Eyeshadow & lip color suggestions
I'm looking for eyeshadow color suggestions. I currently use browns, and only browns. I am more into "natural" looking makeup, so I don't want to go wild and crazy (though I *love* some of the colors at Fyrinnae
![]() I have used some plums in the past but the last few times I used them I felt I looked weird. I probably didn't have the right shades. I am dark brunette (dyed a bit lighter) with light skin in the winter and I darken up quite a bit in the summer. I have yellow (peachy?) undertones. I am currently using BE and EDM medium beige (though I found the EDM stuff darkens up a bit on me as the day progresses and I didn't find that to be the case with BE). I have dark brown eyes with green tones in them. Here is a picture of me (same as my icon). I am wearing BE Medium Beige here, with Golden Gate as my blush, and my usual brown shadows. image.photobucket.com/albums/v176/Nyanth/Bare%20Minerals/twohourslater.jpg You'll have to cut and paste the link to get it to pull up. I can't post it as a link because I don't have enough posts. I am also looking for lip color suggestions. I have always had a *really* hard time finding shades I like that will last and also don't make my lips look like two slash marks in the snow. Again, I like a more natural look. I have tried Smashbox lip stains, and I love the idea, but I find that their stains don't last very long. So any suggestions in a stain would be appreciated ![]() Thanks much!!

Re: Eyeshadow & lip color suggestions
I just ordered a bunch of eyeshadows f/s and samples from Taylormade, and I'm so impressed by the Customer Service. She patiently answered all my lengthy questions about the kind of glitter/sheen/shimmer, etc. over several emails, and her colors look so sophisticated and "haut couture" for the price she's charging : $0.75 for a sample and $3 for a f/s 5 g jar. Shimmery and glittery eyeshadows can look cheap, and mattes can look dull, but these look like jewels. I'm hoping to find some HG e/s among my order.
Of course I don't know if the colors look as good in real life, but I will write a rave if they turn out to be my HG. She has a few very helpful pages of made-up looks so you might be able to choose a pretty but not outrageous combination for yourself.ClientPhotos1 I know I sound very enthusiastic (and I swear I'm not working for her or any make-up companies! ), but I've been impressed by her willingness to help, to answer questions the best she can to understand what I wanted and to tolerate order changes.Maybe she can help you find your look. Definitely send her your picture - you'll get good advice as she is a professional. To me, you might look very nice in a greenish-plum-purple combination which will bring out the greens in your eyes, and if you feel like experimenting, maybe even very soft gold to pick up the green-gold tones in the iris. Good luck! ![]() Last edited by Qwerty : 04-16-2007 at 10:21 AM. |

Re: Eyeshadow & lip color suggestions
If you like neutrals in e/s one of my favorite brands is littlestuff4u pure minerals. There is one called Muddy water that is a midtone brown/plum which would be lovely with your eyes. It's not too dark and still neutral even though it is plumy too. Not too shiny either. I did swatches in the sticky for HelloMindy because she wanted neutrals too.
As far a lip products I am not great at recommending them because I can never keep lip products on. I am always reapplying. ![]()

Re: Eyeshadow & lip color suggestions
My own lip trick is get a bright red lipstick which contains more pigment than a lighter one and dab a little on the lips and spread it with my little finger to meet the contours. Blot with tissue and reapply if a more intense shade or longer staying power is desired. I'd get a muted, matte, slightly stained look that will last for hours, and then I'd wear a transparent gloss over.
