Smile A free makeover...

ok, so mineral makeup just hit France. sephora is selling the BE get started kit, and since it's new you have a free makeover. i had to try it (*innocent girl* ), so i just went there and played the dumb girl who doesn't know what it is
a nice sephora saleswoman explained how it worked and how to apply it (though thanks to Thais i already knew that lol).
she first applied the foundation, and i was surprised how my face looked. usually with liquid foundation i always look a bit cakey, but it was just natural, me with an even face, without my red acne scars. yeepee ! (though she used the big brush from the kit, not the kabuki).
then she took the warmth thing, and applied it all over my face, blending it with the kabuki brush. she said it would give me a healthy glow. under the neons it was looking good, i was really enjoying it. she finished with the mineral veil. i saw her put the brushes back on the counter without washing them... ew !
i went out already plotting a strategy to convince my mom in buying me a foundation as a birthday present.
one hour later i was home and jumping on my feet, lalala i have dad's camera, i can take a pic and post it on MuT, lalalala, and looked at my face in a mirror. eeek ! i was orange ! like real orange, as if i was painted with bronzer ! and i dared ask my mom how i was looking. worse ! i had bronzer only on my face so it was a big contrast with my neck (which a shade lighter than my face).
it was itching around my eyes, but i don't know if it's my allergies or something else.
so now, i don't know. i love how i look with a mineral foundation, so it's one more reason to buy one, but i'm not sure i'll invest in bare minerals.
but it was a good experience, lol, i should never go near a sephora, i swear each time i see the black&white logo i have to go inside and touch/smell something.

Re: a free makeover...

I think a lot of the sales people aren't too careful with how they apply stuff... I always feel they put on too much.
Glad you liked the general idea of MMU though, I'm sure you'll find a brand that works for you!

Re: a free makeover...

Alot of people with sensitive skin have problems with itching because of the bismuth.

A great alternative is Everyday Minerals, maybe they ship to France?

Glad that you like the MMU results though

Re: a free makeover...

Sorry that BE apparently doesn't work for you. I also had the same experience. I've stated this before, but co-workers would tell me that I looked tired. In the end, I figured it was the combination of Fairly Light foundation and the Warmth. No way in God's green earth would I have ever purchased that jar of mineral. Why put THAT in the starter kit? Why not True or Glee, something a little more friendly? I hope that you don't give up on mineral makeup. There are so many brands out there and there will be a brand made for you.

BTW, we did a family holiday to Paris about 4-5 years ago. We went to the Sephora on the Avenue des Champs-Elysees THREE times in one week! My poor husband! Too bad he only has daughters and no sons. My carry-on bag was so weighted down from French soaps and eau de eden perfume.

Re: a free makeover...

BE was itchy and was the wrong color for me too. The shades were either too light or too orange. However I love mineral makeup. I really like Ocean Mist and Alima. Don't give up on mineral makeup just because of BE!

lol, that's my fave , nice sales people, MAC counter, big shop (i wonder if it's not the biggest of all ). and it's opened 7 days a week, usually the shops are closed on sunday, so i know if i'm bored i can go there and try some makeup
don't worry, i'm not giving up on MMU, just on BE.

yeah, i thought this would be possible, i'm just glad i didn't spend 22 euros on a BE foundation.
EDM ships internationally, i checked. i'm more concerned about the shipping costs but i know this won't stop me from ordering samples lol.

Just a thought, would ordering from Lily Lolo be any cheaper than the US companies for shipping? I've heard so many positive things about that company.

Good Luck. BE does look nice, but I just couldn't stand the itch. I could never get in to warmth either, and I like traditional bronzer??? strange

Oh yes, Sephora on Champs-Elyssees... I went there too when I was holidaying in Paris in 05. They got a huge chunk of my vacation money!

Question Re: a free makeover...

I was wondering how long it would take to receive an order via "Royal Mail" here in the United States. That is the listed option for shipping on the Lily Lolo site. Is that the equivalent to the United States' "First Class Mail"?

I used an online currency converter and my order of a couple foundation and concealer samples were about $8.00 US. I didn't go all the way through the order. Does anyone know at the end, when you pay, does it automatically convert currency to charge to your card? Are there customs charges or duties in-coming on these orders? I've never ordered from outside of the country before. I hope someone can give me a little info. I hope to know the in's and out's of it before I order.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

i think Royal Mail first class is just like first class mail, but i can be wrong. yeah, i think the currency changes automatically.
i don't know about custom charges, maybe for small orders there isn't any? that's what i'm thinking because when my brother ordered an airsoft gun from a US website, he had to pay some charges and UPS, but it was a rifle (and of course, it means a big box) so it was the only delivery possible for that kind of product.
i know i probably won't pay anything, as i live in Europ and we have small to non existent charges between countries of the EU.
