Help me find a non-glittery mmu foundation

Hi all,

I got my supposedly "matte" Jenulence mineral foundation samples in the mail this week. I brushed some of the product on my arm and held it up to the sunlight. To my surprise, there were what seemed like tiny specks of "glitter" in the foundation, and A LOT of it, which weren't visible under normal indoor lighting. This sucks for me cuz I'd prefer something natural looking and would rather my face not look like a micronized discoball on a sunny day :P

Can y'all help me out and list brands of NON-GLITTERY mineral foundations? Preferably ones with medium to heavy coverage.

Thanks a bunch!

p.s. the glitter seems to be only noticeable under very bright sunlight and i'd guess that it would probably be hard to see in the mirror. you'd have to brush it onto your arm and look directly at the makeup under the sun.

Re: Help me find a NON-GLITTERY mmu foundation

There are quite a few matte formulations I've tried:
Cory
Buff'd
Blusche (Velvet Matte)
Pure Anada
Everyday Minerals (Matte and Intensive)

I used to shy away from any foundations with the slight amount of glitter on them, but some of them have a very subtle sheen, which actually makes the foundation look less cakey and more natural.

I use Lily Lolo foundation. It doesn't have any glitter, sparkle or shimmer.

J. Lynne
Mineral Foundation Makeup | Mineral Powder Foundation by J.Lynne Cosmetics

Her foundation stays matte till you take it off. Unfortunately I couldn't find a color that matched me.

I use the one from Sally's it used to be Savvy, now I think it's another brand. It has no glitter, glimmer, shimmer, or sparkle!

Re: Help me find a NON-GLITTERY mmu foundation

I have found Aromaleigh, Monave, Lauress, and Lumiere (Flawless Finish and Vena Velvet formulas) to have no glitter or sparkle. I think the cashmere in Lumiere may also be free of sparkle but I haven't checked in direct sunlight yet. I also just got some samples from signature minerals today and they looked sparkle free on my arm but I'll check again in the sun tomorrow. I too don't like the sparkle/glitter look in a foundation, especially in the daylight. It may seem like a contradiction but I do sometimes like to use an illuminizer (on select areas of the face), the particle size seems so much smaller and imparts a glow rather than seeing actual individual bits that catch light. I found Meow foundation to have large particles of shimmer that really stood out in the sun, almost looked like bits of fiberglass scattered across my face.

Re: Help me find a non-glittery mmu foundation

Mica is what shimmers in your MMU.

You'll be hard pushed to find a foundation without it, as mica (or sericite) is a staple ingredient in MMU.

Even ones that say 'matte' usually have mica in them. The grades of mica that you can get vary considerably though, with some being finer than others etc....

You could try Everyday Minerals intensive formula.

Here is a list of most MMU companies ingredients.
Mineral Powder Foundation Ingredients List

This may help you...........?

Re: Help me find a non-glittery mmu foundation

ill vouch for jlynne and lauress for that matte foundation... stay away from be and monave... they tend to be dewy at the end of the day... if you dont want that dewy shine

Re: Help me find a non-glittery mmu foundation

I got the impression from the everyday minerals website that "intensive" is near-matte and "matte" is just regular matte-matte. what's the difference between the two and which one has less glittery particles?

Neither the matte or intensive formulas have any gilttery-ness to them. The difference between the two formulas is the coverage. The intensive has super coverage, a little too much if you ask me. I really like the matte formula, has great coverage for everyday wear, no gilttery at all.

Intensive is more opaque than the Matte.
