Just recieved my Lumiere samples and torn

So I decided that my colour is medium golden however, I don't know which formula to get or which deal to get please help me.

First problem, formulas:
The flawless foundation gives me the I coverage I need, looks natural but! it's for combo or dry skin so it tends to get shiny on me quickly throughout the day and a lot of oily skinned gals complain that this formula tends to 'melt' away but I haven't quite experienced that yet (probably because I haven't had a full day out with this on)

The Veena Velvet foundation is for oily skin and it is said to have heavy coverage but to me, it is definately not as great as the flawless (coverage). Also, I do have extremely oily skin, but this stuff accentuates all my dry patches upon initial application. I'm sure these patches will go away within an hour or so, but I don't always have an hour to wait it out.

So to me, it seems like flawless would be better even if it doesn't control my oilies, would you agree? But I got my flawless sample a different time than the veena velvet and they seem to be slightly different shades (flawless more yellow).

Second problem, the deals:
I only want to spend about 30-40 because this is a present and I don't want to make this too expensive. There is a Lumeire deal where you can get 2 full sized foundations for $30. So with this deal, I was thinking maybe I can get VV in med golden (for oil control in the summer) and FF in light med golden (for coverage in winter). My skin is tanned now, so I can't truly sample the right shade for winter.

If I don't go with the first option, I was planning to get full size foundation ($18) and $10 worth of finishing veil. I'm currently using NYC loose powder which alot of ppl rave about but I don't see it making any different except leaving a white cast after I fist apply it (goes away after a while). But if I get the finishing veil from lumiere, I most likely won't buy it again because I don't like the idea of spending $10+ on finishing powders because they don't make a difference for me. I have sampled the sand silk finishing veil btw and it's better than NYC but again, nothing amazing.

What should I do?!
Sorry about the long post btw.

Re: Just recieved my Lumiere samples and torn

Now I don't use this brand but it sounds like you're having the same problem I am with my EDM. I like the coverage and flawless look of intensive but the oily controlling formula itched my face and looked more like powder than my intensive formula, which even felt creamy and soft when i used it.

I am trying something different today. Now, I just make a tinted moisturizer out of my favorite formula which actually gives me a flawless base AND THEN I put on a primer. It looks like I already have a flawless face. This way I avoid putting on so much foundation and avoid having it melt off my face and don't have to worry so much, and the primer (as long as its clear) helps control my oilies.

I still use my foundation dry but i do one very light layer and i still use my mint concealer to cover redness, and i use less since i already have a "foundation" on. I'm doing this today and I haven't had any problem with blotting my face and trust me, I sweat like crazy and have very oily skin!!

I would imagine that by creating a tinted moisturizer out of your mineral foundation would also make it way easier to determine if its right for you bc anyone can tell if a color is right for them when they use liquid foundation and now all you would be doing is creating your own foundation!!

That sounds like a good idea. What ratio do you mix your foundation in because in the past when I tried, I ended up using a lot more powder to get coverage and ended up with a streaky and blotchy face. And also, how do you mix it? just dump the two in your hands and mix or in a little container?

Just wanna ask you, u said that you sweat like crazy...must be on ur face. How do you apply ur foundation when your face is sweaty. Because I sweat alot on my face even on a normal day..now that its so hot in singapore..i find it difficult to apply foundation. I try to dab my face with tissue or stand near the fan to dry abit but than applying the foundation takes a while so its kinda get uneven and you can see the foundation stuck in one place.

hope to hear from u.

thks, emma

Re: Just recieved my Lumiere samples and torn

hi there..
I use in Lumiere's foundations and I love them all.
I have the same problem like you especelly in the summer days.
I need somthing more cover and more last all day. I mix a little VV with FF and its great.
I have the finish and the coverage that I want and the stabillity that I want.

if you have an oily skin may be try not to put moistioizer befor the foundation.

Good idea about mixing the two formulas, however, I need moisturizer because my face is a little tight after washing (even from cetaphil) but then it gets extremely oily within an hour.

Re: Just recieved my Lumiere samples and torn

Well, I just dump some mmu on my hand and add a small amt of moisturizer, that way i can see how dark it gets and how much coloring i actually want. I haven't measured any out bc mmu tends to go bad when mixed with any fluids (moisturizer) and i don't want to create a batch that might go bad before i run out of it. I usually mix it so that it looks like liquid foundation in colorwise.

To apply it, if i feel that its hot or i'm getting sweaty, i do my foundation near a fan set on low but not right in front of my face. that way i don't have to worry about streaking or blotches all over my face. and throughout the day i use blotting sheets.

Have you tried the Cashmere formula? I have very oily skin so I didn't try the FF. The Veena formula broke me out but the Cashmere was perfect (I use Medium Warm). I didn't get oily with it and it lasted the whole day, no chalky look and it felt very light. I will get a FS soon and I was also thinking about the 2 foundations for $30 which is a good deal.

I agree about mixing the two formulas together. I did this with Mineral Boutique's Halt It (for oil control) and Cover It (for coverage). It works great now!
