Re: looking for a rugh and dense Kabuki..

Have you tried the one from BE, or are you mainly looking for synthetic brushes?

Re: looking for a rugh and dense Kabuki..

I have the "Luscious Kabuki" brush. It's extremely full and dense. Mine is made of goat hair. This particular brush can be made of squirrel hair as well or a mixture of squirrel and goat.

Luscious kabuki brush | Barefaced Beauty | Mineral Cosmetics | Natural Pure Mineral Makeup| Beautiful Skin | Mineral Makeup | Pure Mineral Foundation | Mineral Powder | Mineral Bronzer

Squirrel is the softest but goat is just as nice but a bit firmer. You can do a search for this particular brush and find that many companies offer it in different hair blends.

You can find this brush anywhere. It doesn't have to come from the site I posted. I just used that site to show the picture of the brush. Do an online search for "Luscious Kabuki" and you'll see alot of search results from many different websites.

The BE is pretty rough to me. It is quite dense too.

Re: Looking for a rough and dense Kabuki..

I've tried 3 kabuki's... BE's, Chanel's, and MAC's.

BE and Chanel are on the rough side, BE is definitely the roughest.

MAC's brush is super-dense, and the best brush I ever bought. It totally buffs mineral makeup perfectly. Worth every penny, imo.

If you are looking for rough, I'm gonna say BE too. It was a little too rough for me though.

Re: Looking for a rough and dense Kabuki..

I don't think Simi means 'rough' as in scratchy or uncomfortable. I think she means 'firm' or 'stiff' so that the hairs don't splay or spread apart so easily. The firmer/denser brush can be very useful for some foundations. It applies more even pressure to the face and forces the minerals into the skin better.

Simi please correct me if I am wrong.

This is where I bought my Luscious Kabuki several years ago. It's still like brand new.

Re: Looking for a rough and dense Kabuki..

Oh - thanks laurie lu , that makes more sense. If that's true you might like the Lumiere kabuki - the normal one not the LHK, as it's really dense and firm. I like it and I have tried quite a few kabukis. Must get myself one of these Lucious ones to try too!

Re: Looking for a rough and dense Kabuki..

In that case, maybe you'll find a natural hair flat top might splay (spread out) less? I have trouble with them spreading too, especially, after washing. I am using the rubber band trick (actually hair band) for now. Hoping the flat top I ordered will make it unnecessary in future.
