Re: loose concealer..

Heres another one as well. I'm in search too and I'm trying different tips.

Mineral Makeup Application Tip : Applying Concealer

Mineral makeup is simply the greatest, because it is very versatile - the foundation, could also be used as a concealer, and concealer foundations, can provide great coverage for foundations. I’ve been a huge fan of concealing because of my imperfections, so let me just share some of what I’ve learned from experimentation about concealing. There are two ways, but I’m teaching the wet method :

First of all, the needed tool for concealing is none other than, the concealer brush! Do not use an eyeshadow brush or any brush with animal hair. The needed material for this brush is taklon, or of synthetic nature. Why? because it loads more product, thus, for concealing to be effective, you need as much coverage as you can in that specific problem area.

Second, the concealer should be at least one shade lighter than your normal shade. It’s because you are going to “load” up some product on the problem area, and the area could darken if you apply the same shade that you use on your whole face. You could always blend in the lighter shade or apply another layer of foundation right after concealing to make the concealed area unnoticeable!

Okay, here goes my tutorial! ( boy , I wish to get my new camera soon, I want to take pictures! argh! )

WET APPLICATION
This is right after you have applied your first layer of foundation, or for oily skinned people, finishing powder, and foundation.

1. Okay, get your concealer brush!

2. Tap some product onto a separate dish, be it a swirling bowl. Go get yourself some small dish for this! Mineral makeup in pots need to be always kept dry, so as not to get them contaminated, so we should be using a separate dish /container for this.

3. Now, get your spray. Be it a moisture mist, or water. Spray on the dish, directly to the minerals.

4. Using the concealer brush, mix the liquid with minerals. Now, you see liquid minerals! It looks just like liquid foundation!

5. Apply on problem areas the liquid concealer. Wait for it to dry before blending around the edges, and softly blending it.

6. Add another layer of foundation ( dry ) to further blend and even skin out.

7. Last but not the least, spray whole face with moisture mist. Usually, some of my friends complain that the concealed area looks patchy because of wet application, but I say blend them further, because they can really be blended well, plus spraying in the end would really help it look really patch-free!

There you have it , my well-kept secret! The key to successful concealing is practice, practice, and practice! Hope everyone gets to try and experiment until they get em right! Nothing beats looking all flawless , and with only you knowing how much concealing you just did! Cool!

*The above mineral makeup brush can be bought at Beauty & Minerals, and is available in the Philippines only for now.

Re: Loose concealer..

I truly appreciate the tutorial, because I've been having trouble with my loose concealer, but there's just one thing I'd like to ask... seeing as this requires a lot of work and unnecessary mess (having to use an extra dish which you obviously have to clean afterwards), I am wondering... why not use a liquid concealer in the first place? Does it really make a difference? Since I haven't tried it out, I don't really know, so whoever has experience on this, please let me know.

I am trying to understand all the hype about MM, but I fail to see any results on me. Too much trouble, and no results. I must be doing something wrong...

Re: Loose concealer..

Simi, I have the opposite problem. My lavender corrector from Joppa outlasts my Meow Pampurred Puss foundation. So even though the lavender works really well to hide my hyperpigmentation, I had to switch to Joppa's multi-tasking concealer so that I wasn't left with lavender spots at the end of the day!

Kerasaki, my experience has been that my MMU foundation doesn't blend quite as well with liquid concealer as it does with powdered concealer for most of my face. Undereye is an entirely different story, and I'm still searching for an alternative (mineral or traditional) to the cheap Revlon concealer that is the only thing that marginally covers my very dark circles while not highlighting every fine line. Even Bobbi Brown, which is supposed to be the HG of people with very dark circles, made me look like Bette Davis in "What Happened to Baby Jane." It was so scary that even the salesclerk didn't have the heart to suggest I buy it.

Re: Loose concealer..

you could either use the wet method or
you could apply a primer first before using your concealer
or you could dust your face with kaolin clay or a light sprinkling of silica powder
