Lumiere Emu Oil - smell & benefits

I read so many good things about Emu Oil. So I ordered full-size Lumiere's Diminish Emu Oil and the sample of Original Creamy Emu Oil.

The Diminish is clear and is described as 100% Triple Refined. It has only the faintest smell which I can live with.

The Creamy Emu Oil is a little yellow/white and described as Molecular Distilled 100% Pure Fully Refined. I cannot stand the smell, I smell strongly like chicken grease. I'm very tolerant to many smells but its so bad I smell like I rubbed Kentucky Fried Chicken on my face!

Is it supposed to smell like that?!

Has anyone witnessed any benefits to using emu oil? Can any eczema or acne users chime in?

It has already helped my rosacea and improved my skin a great deal. I would go with the clear stuff as opposed to the yellow stuff on your face. However, you can keep the yellowish and use it for other things on your body: aches and pains, scrapes, cuts, etc. Emu oil has anti-inflammatory properties and helps with healing. It's also a carrier oil, so be careful what you put on your skin with it because it can carry it down deeper into the epidermal layers.

Do you have oily skin? Using oils such as Emu and Jojoba isn't "oil" like you may think. They can actually help your skin balance out its oil production, so it won't create as much.

I just started using Emu Oil too. I also smell something. I'm not sure what it smells like, but I smell it. I'm just using it at night right now so I don't care. Mine is the yellow kind too.

I may have to check out the clear kind. What is the difference in the clear and the yellow, besides the smell? I assume there is an end result difference (for the skin). Why would one be altered and the other not? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I use to have acne breakouts all the time. I really don't have them anymore since using MMU. I have not had any breakouts due to the Emu Oil. My skin is very soft after a few nights use. That's all I know at this point. I've read it will fade acne scars and soften lines. That is why I started using it. I will see what happens. I will keep posting as I use it longer.

I don't have eczema, but I did read it's suppose to help with that too.

Re: Lumiere Emu Oil - smell & benefits

I just bought the diminish roller bottle and the creamy emu oil sample too. I guess I have a very sensitive nose but the diminish smells like chicken fat to me too. The smell disappears after 30 minutes of application. I havent had the chance to use the creamy emu oil yet.

Give me a bit, and I'll get a pretty comprehensive answer for you. I believe the clearer emu oil is more refined or something. Purified somehow. I'll get back with you this, though.

I agree. I have read that the "yellowish tint" has been directly related to the anti-inflammatory abilities of the emu oil.

I have the Aubrey Nicole emu oil and only smell a very faint scent but can't really pin point what it smells like...maybe my nose just isn't discriminating enough.

Re: Lumiere Emu Oil - smell & benefits

I've heard in the past that Joppa's Emu Oil smelled like fried chicken and now Lumiere's. I have Aubrey Nicole's and I don't smell anything! I've been using it for about 6 months (love it) - it's a light creamy yellow color.

Does it smell strongly?

At first I was afraid but after a week of using Extra Virgin Olive Oil to cleanse & moisturize my face, I am loving it. I have combination skin and it gets very oily but since using the Olive Oil my skin is no longer dry and it gets less oily than before.

Thank you so much for explaining Emu oil. I will use the clear one on my acne scars & eczema.

Ya I noticed the Diminish smells like chicken fat but for me the smell is very faint and doesn't linger. My yellow one smells much stronger. Does your yellow one smell stronger?

That's good to know. For future purchases, I'll try Aubrey Nicole's Emu Oil.
Has it made any noticeable difference in your skin?

Re: Lumiere Emu Oil - smell & benefits

I have Aubrey Nicole's emu oil and I believe Angela does too. It doesn't smell bad at all, to me. It's a very faint scent, not an odor. I rather like it. I had to put the bottle almost in my nose to detect it. lol

Re: Lumiere Emu Oil - smell & benefits

Okay, I got a definitive answer on the differences. The lady who gave this answer has done extensive face/skin-care research. She's awesome.

Quote:
It is the refining process. Emu oil comes in different grades. The
yellow, thickish type is what LB emu calls "Grade B". It's often
used in soaps and lotions that don't a need for white or colorless
oil.

Grade A is usually white to a very light yellow.

Clear Emu is regular emu oil that has been taken one process further,
and is formulated to stay clear at lower temperatures. Some people
find it penetrates quicker than Grade A or B. I find it more
pleasing esthetically than either A or B.

Creamy Emu is the thicker emu oil, with the clear emu taken out.
It's typically used in lotions and such.

The LB Ultra Emu is creamier than the clear, but penetrates well. It
is exclusive to LB Processors and they have a patent pending on it.
Studies have shown that it increases the anti-inflammatory activity
by 45%.

Emu oil that is thick, yellow, has a distinct odor, etc. may not be
cosmetic grade or may not be fully refined according to AEA defined
processes... beware of any emu that is sticky, yellow or smells bad!!!
The LB Processors Ultra Emu Oil she's talking about can be purchased from their site, or it can be purchased at Diana Yvonne here: DianaYvonne ULTRA Emu Oil, 1 oz

Re: Lumiere Emu Oil - smell & benefits

Thanks for the info on Emu Oil. My AN oil is very, very light yellow, creamy and has no smell. The description says it is Grade A, 100% Australian so now I know what Grade A means (happy it's good). They list Emu Oil fact on their website here Aubrey Nicole Mineral Makeup and Skin Care :: Pure Emu Oil Facts

Golden Angel - I am thrilled with the Emu Oil. I have several red marks from old acne that just wouldn't go away and the Emu Oil is diminishing those quickly. My skin is softer. I love it. It's funny, I never would have wanted to put oil on my face, but after being talked into trying it, I can't believe it didn't sooner. Keeps my skin from getting so oily and looks better than ever. I also use Jojoba Oil and Squalane oil from time to time too.
