Lumiere formula + colour dilemma (need help)

Alright! So I ordered their try me kit and I had to test colour and formula so I got the following:
  • med golden in flawless
  • med warm in luminous
  • med warm in cashmere
  • med beige in cashmere
As soon as I got it I tried it that night and I used to wet q-tip streak method where you just make a line on your face. Med warm cashmere was the one that blended in. Then I tried it again the next morning in daylight lighting, and found that it was slightly pink and it didn't melt as nicely into my skin. Anyways, here are the results of morning lighting:
  • med golden in flawless: too dark
  • med warm in luminous: pink and dark
  • med warm in cashmere: pink
  • med beige in cashmere: pink
However! I was testing formula this morning and how well they hold up, so I did half my face in med golden in flawless and the other in med warm luminous. I must say... med golden seems to have the yellow undertones I need and it seems like it blends nicely into my skin (colourwise). And also because I've already tested cashmere, flawless seems to give me the coverage I need and it doesn't look as fake as the other finishes (but that could be due to a nicer matching colour).

So after all that, my question is, should I order golden one shade lighter (I'm afraid it might be too light) in flawless? But I'm hesistant about flawless because the second ingredient is titanium oxide and I can really do without the white cast it causes. And I've also heard about colours running lighter or darker in different formulas, can someone tell me which formulas are darker/lighter?

(sry about the long post)

Re: Lumiere formula + colour dilemma (need help)

I wouldn't worry about the TiO giving a white cast because the coloured pigments in the foundation will take care of that. In general, I think that Flawless runs a little lighter than the others. The best thing for you to do is order another round of samples. Shipping for samples alone is only USD1. Up to 10 samples. Order the Flawless in the lighter shade and see how it works for you. Luminesse runs one shade darker than the rest of the formulas. You can also email Lumiere's customer service to ask. They do reply very quickly.

Re: Lumiere formula + colour dilemma (need help)

I was thinking that I might just take med golden in flawless. I did however email them and ask how much lighter the light medium is. But maybe it's because I've been using a mismatched shade for the longest time but I like the warm/beiger look and now when I wear golden, although it matches my neck, I feel a lot darker and I feel like I look 'dirty'.. and if I make the change from warm to golden other people might notice too although they might just think I tanned... which is unlike me

I've noticed that the same shade varies so much depending on the formula. From all my samples, it seems like Flawless significantly lighter, VV and cashmere are in the middle, and pretty close to each other, and luminesse is significantly darker.

Ohhh, so if med golden is too dark in flawless, then I should definately be a light medium golden in any other formula thx! But I still dont'know if I can accept the darker look. A lot of people think I'm philiphino, but I'm not, lol so that would be why I'm not use to the golden look because I guess I'm use to the lighter look. Maybe when the weather gets warmer I'll switch to golden so it looks like I tanned but really it's just my colour.

Re: Lumiere formula + colour dilemma (need help)

Kathy emailed me back and said that the next shade is just a 1/2 shade difference.. but that doesn't help much because i don't know how dark one shade is. What do you all think, would I be better off with medium or should I go for light medium? I really don't feel like making another order for one sample even tho the shipping is just a dollar.

If the med golden in Flawless is definitely too dark, then I think you would be able to use the light med golden. It might be safer to go for Cashmere or Veena Velvet light med golden as the shade dfference is likely to be less than for Flawless light med golden.

That's what I was thinking, but I really need the coverage for all the acne marks i have, but if any Lumiere users can recommend the other formulas that look natural after layers and layers lol. I kind of like the luminese too but when I did half and half my face, the flawless just looks like I"m not wearing makeup. I have oily skin too, but when I sampled VV, it's not bad.. but you can just tell I"m wearing makeup. LIke it's one thing for people to realize you're wearing eye makeup, colour on your cheeks, but it's another thing for someone to realize you are wearing foundation lol.

Re: Lumiere formula + colour dilemma (need help)

I haven't sampled the medium shade, only the light and light medium golden, but the difference between light golden and light medium golden wasn't huge. So if Lumiere customer service says the light medium is half shade lighter than the medium, they are probably right. Half shade lighter would be just nice for you.
