So I'm considering trying out Lumiere MMU. Has anyone tried this? I'm having trouble finding choosing the formula and color.
I have acne-prone skin. Dry skin in the morning and through out the day, I get oily in the t-zone. I'm an EDM Buttered Tan and MAC NC 35-40. What shade do you think I should get? Here's the description from their website for their formulas: Flawless - Unlike other mineral foundations that are chalky and heavy feeling Flawless is finely milled, soft & moisturizing. Formulated with squalane to create a creamy textured foundation that will almost melt into the skin to rehydrate and rejuvenate dry, lifeless skin. Flawless is a mica free matte but not flat foundation with a touch of glow. Veena Velvet - The addition of a cosmetic grade oat powder has been added to this unique foundation to create a soft, creamy like textured foundation that is perfect for sensitive skin. Will help heal and soothe the skin and keep your skin oil free all day long without drying your skin. Veena Velvet is a all matte, foundation that is not chalky and completely blendable powder. Luminesse - Created by customer request! This is yet another soft, finely milled foundation mimicked after a nationally known brands that is just as its suggests.... Luminous! While it is still a matte foundation, this formula offers a luminous glow with a light medium to heavy coverage. If you like the finish of Bare Escentuals, Sheer Cover or Jane Iredale, you are going to LOVE our Luminesse! Cashmere - Silky Soft almost creamy like texture that will be great on ANY skin type as the high content of pure silk powder will soak up extra oil for those with oily skin and help retain moisture for those with dry skin. This is truly a remarkable foundation that will keep you skin looking fresh all day! Our Cashmere pure silk based foundation offers a satin smooth matte but, not flat finish. I'm debating between Flawless, Veena and Luminesse. I'm allergic to silk, so no Cashmere for me. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Re: Lumiere MMU help!
Get samples of all three and try them!
As a rule, FF is for dry skin, VV is for oily, and Luminesse gives the sheerest coverage. Don't know if that helps any. Also, Lumi shades run light in general. But, Luminesse runs a bit dark in Lumiere, so if you were, say, a mediium-deep golden in Luminesse, you'd probably be a deep golden in VV or FF. |

Re: Lumiere MMU help!
I can't help you with specific shades because you're a bit darker than me, but I did notice this when I got tons of samples with my pre-buy brushes: I've noticed that the same shade varies so much depending on the formula. From all my samples, it seems like Flawless significantly lighter, VV and cashmere are in the middle, and pretty close to each other, and luminesse is significantly darker.
My two favorites were probably flawless and luminesse. Flawless doesn't really give a glow, it just seems like a good medium coverage foundation. Luminesse gives a glow like BE. I felt so-so on VV and Cashmere.

Re: Lumiere MMU help!
Thanks! I will try all three formulations. I'm looking for medium coverage to cover my acne spots.
How's their staying power? Will it melt off my skin at the end of the day? |

Re: Lumiere MMU help!
I have oily skin and I use Lumiere in the VV formula. It does melt off a little (well, in my case, it does) but I think it lasts longer than any other MMU I've tried and it controlled my oily skin better too.
Hope that helps. |

Re: Lumiere MMU help!
I can't help you with colours, but I have to say, I totally love the Luminese finish, it's gorgeous. Nice and matte, but still with a little, subtle glow.
Like others have said, the colouring is so different between the formula's, I suggest you order a bunch of samples and try them out. I got 4 to 5 applications from each sample, which is enough to give you a good idea of how you like it. I find the staying power really well. I put it on in the morning and it's still there at night, it even lasts through my afternoon nap. |

Re: Lumiere MMU help!
I have tried Lumiere in VV because I heard it works best for oily skin types. The finish was nice, but it didn't stay on me for more than an hour. ): Which is odd, because EDM lasts on me all day long without touch-ups. I was a fairly light golden/light warm for lumiere and I wear Golden Light/Fairly Light Beige for EDM. I would have experimented with it more but I really could not stand the smell of it--oats i believe? It gave me a headache.
I hope it works well for you! It's unfortunate it didn't work for me ):

Re: Lumiere MMU help!
I have not tried Lumiere. I almost have many times, but then I just never do. They seem to be a love or hate thing with people - as in people really love their stuff, or they really don't like it at all. Their foundations have multiple ingredients, which is the big reason that deters me a little from them. More ingredients = more potential for my skin to react to something.
