Exclamation MAC prep + prime, which onewith MMU?

Hey girls! I need your help once again I am looking for a good primer to wear with my MMU- I have just not been happy with my Meow application lately. I am getting married next month and really want to get my MMU application looking its best before my honeymoon! Thank god I am having my makeup done professionally the day of My application has been looking rough, flaky, and kinda blotchy. I am just not getting a good, smooth coverage! So I think I probably am in need of a primer, at least I am hoping this will help!

So my question is which MAC primer should I try: the regular or the one with SPF 50? I have dry to normal skin that is very sensitive. I am also wondering if anyone who has tried it can tell me a little bit about your experience with either one? I dont want it to be too drying or too oily and am looking for a matte finish-I think? My skin seems to get shiny by the end of the day. So please keep the advice and your personal experiences a comin! I really, really appreciate it!

Thanks so much
Nicole

Hi Nicole,

Congrats on your wedding Not sure if this helps but i thought you might like to know that there has been some raves for Camellia Rose's Skin Smoothing Primer. You can also order a sample to try just to make sure it works for you. For your dry skin i would also suggest using a good moisturizer and maybe add a few drops of jojoba oil and massage onto your face before applying your MMU. My skin type is combination and this method has worked wonders on my skin especially on the dry areas. Good luck.

princessmich!

Woohoo! Love your avatar pic! Finally! You look so lovely!

Hey Nicole,

Congrats on your upcoming marriage!!! I have oily skin, large pores and blemishes aplenty and Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel is my HG primer. It keeps my foundation matte and makes it last all day. More than that, it makes my pores, lines, scars and blemishes less obvious and makes my skin look airbrushed.

Sorry, I can't help you with Mac primers as I don't use Mac.

Re: MAC prep + prime, which onewith MMU?

Thanks for replying so quickly girls! I just thought of something I wanted to ask you all about No matter if I use MMU or traditional liquid foundation my makeup always seems to find its way into my smile lines-you know what I mean Would primer help it from collecting here? It looks so awful and I am constantly rubbing my face there to blend in any that has collected over time!

Yes, my primer helps my makeup from creasing in my lines.

Re: MAC prep + prime, which onewith MMU?

A primer would help for pores and lines. I don't really recommend trying anything too soon to the big day though, since if you react badly your skin needs time to heal. I'm not sure if the one with SPF would be good since you're already wearing MMU and that together would white out your face in pictures with the flash.

I don't use MAC for primers either but I love Cover FX's primer.

Re: MAC prep + prime, which onewith MMU?

Prep+prime is very nice, but I have never tried the SPF version. If I had to buy a bottle today, I would probably buy the SPF version since it adds the sun protection. But I dont know if its texture is different from the original formula... Maybe somebody else who has tried both formulas could help too?

I agree with SimplyElegant about trying new stuff so close to the big day, especially if your skin has been known to react to certain ingredients in the past.

That said, my tried and tested method for keeping my makeup smudge-proof, sweat-proof, matte and touchup-free is to use a primer in combination with a sealant like Ben Nye's Final Seal. The primer under my makeup acts as a barrier between my skin and my makeup while the sealant forms a barrier over my makeup. In this way, oil from my pores can't mix with my makeup, making it runny and causing it to pool in my lines and creases, and whatever sweat running down from my forehead doesn't mix with my makeup either. In other words, my makeup is preserved between these two protective layers.

Invaluable for vigorous gym workouts (yeah, you won't catch me without makeup outside my house!), hot and sweaty hikes at the height of summer and clubbing with wild abandon into the wee hours of the morning, IMO!!!

Ditto.

Also, I use Camellia Rose's primer and it is fabulous! My skin is sensitive and I can't use most primers. I have no issue using this one!

Congrats on your wedding!

Re: MAC prep + prime, which onewith MMU?

i have MAC prep+prime skin base visage and it is SO pretty but only one issue for me: i'm a sweater and have oily skin so after 3-4 hrs my make up doesn't look so great. if you are not my skin type i would highly recommend. ps...when i got married the BEST thing i ever did was buy MODEL IN A BOTTLE!
Makeup Setting Spray and Eyebrow Sealer: Model in a Bottle
i sweated my butt off and my make was looking great even after several hours. all the talk shows rave about this stuff. it's for everyone's skin type and is fab!!!!!

Have you tried the primer that Meow makes to go along with your Meow foundations?
