Products like Monistat Anti Chafing gel are almost all silicone(dimethicone). When used for makeup, their main purpose is to create a film or barrier for makeup to 'stick' to. This barrier prevents sweat and oils from coming through underneath which would normally cause makeup to wear off. On me, those trapped oils and sweat clog the pores and cause breakouts. Remember that this Monistat product is used to create a barrier on the skin to protect things from rubbing that would cause chafing.
I prefer to use a natural powder primer made from rice powder. Other natural primer powders can be made from oat powder, silica powder, silk powder, or kaolin clay. Powder primers adhere to the skin well and create a breathable base for your minerals to stick to while at the same time absorbing oil.
Even though these are natural powders, some people can still be sensitive to them. For example, I am allergic to the silk powder that Everyday Minerals makes. I'm too apprehensive to try silk powder by another company.
