Milan foundation colors - preview
I am still in the process of doing a chart for Candace ...
In the meantime I know some of you want to order samples, so these photos may help. These are swatches of all the Milan foundation colors There are 2 more shades to come - Jayln and Cydney. ![]() (The final chart will be neat, and nicely organized!) ![]() (^ The minerals on a plate) An observation: Milan's foundation colors are all really rich and vivid.... so interesting that they don't have a lot of beige in them (Beige tends to make me look flat and ashy) I haven't tested any on my skin/searched for my match yet. Look fwd to doing this on the weekend! ![]()

Re: Milan foundation colors - preview
Looking at your chart Lilita and my own, I am guessing my additional color to add in during a tan would be Cynthia or Gabriella. They seem to have that tan/peach with a hint of golden undertone but not olivey like Olivia. I agree with you that there doesn't seem to be a darker version of Amber which may be your match. I would venture to say that Kiana would be too dark for full winter for me. I'd need a touch lighter then.

Re: Milan foundation colors - preview
Hoozey - I am checking with Candace on these shade descriptions and undertones etc. Some of these colors are SO CLOSE they are almost identical but I know they aren't, and I can't nail what the difference is...
As far as I can tell, JULISA is one step darker than AMBER, but I am guessing it may still be too light for me. I think another yellow/yellow-peach like JULISA or CHRYSTAL but darker, would be good - closer to the depth of Lauress Soft Gold/Yellow. OLIVIA is actually more golden yellow than it is olive... It's quite vibrant and warmer than KIANA which looks more olive in the broader scheme of things. CYNTHIA is medium red-brown/bronze + yellow undertones. And GABRIELLA looks more golden-yellow than CYNTHIA. ( I am trying to be as descriptive as possible with these colors but it's soooo hard) I think lighter than KIANA might be RAVEN... though it has a hint of peach. I know Candace is really open to suggestions for more shades. So who knows... ![]()

Re: Milan foundation colors - preview
whoohoo! found it! the chart that is.
Thanks Lilita! Just a quick observation - Simone doesn't seem to be in the exact same colour range as julissa? Julissa seems to be more yellow, but Simone seems to be more beigey? Maybe somewhere between kiana and raven? I don't know. Just my thoughts on seeing the swatches on paper. Although on the plate, it looks like it might be closer to Amber and Lisette. However, I could be totally wrong, as you can see them in person, so you would know best. =) Last edited by geminisc : 04-07-2007 at 08:48 AM. |

Hoozey (or anyone else familiar with these shades) - please feel free to chime in with descriptions! These will be of great help to all of us sampling Milan. LIGHTEST to LIGHT Mya - lightest yellow Amber - second lightest yellow Julisa - light yellow undertones (darker than Amber) Leah -lightest peach-yellow undertones Chrystal - light peach-yellow undertones (darker than Leah) Simone - lightest olive beige Lisette - light peach-beige undertones Caprice - light peach undertones (darker than Chyrstal) Raven - light golden yellow + slight peach undertones LIGHT to MEDIUM Kiana - light-medium golden with yellow undertones (darker than Raven) Olivia - medium golden with yellow undertones (darker than Kiana) Carmen - light-medium red-brown with yellow undertones Cynthia - medium red brown with yellow undertones (darker than Carmen) Gabriella - medium olive-beige undertones Brooklyn - medium caramel-brown with golden undertones Kara - medium caramel-brown + golden undertones (darker than Brooklyn) Bianca - medium caramel-brown + bronze undertones MEDIUM to DARK Cydney - dark classic brown (coming) Jayln - dark brown with red undertones (coming) Shania - dark warm bronze-red undertones (darker than Jayln) Marie - dark olive brown undertones Jazzmin - dark olive brown + slight bronze undertones (darker than Marie) DARK to DARKEST Ayanna - dark deep warm brown with red undertones (darker than Shania) Deja -dark deep brown with red undertones (darker than Ayanna) Thea - second darkest deep brown with olive undertones Sydrese - very darkest deep brown with olive undertones P.S. I am going to road test JULISA today, and maybe KIANA... I think I've found a match!! ![]() Previously RAVEN was good but a bit too olive/flat; and CAPRICE was a bit too peach/needed yellow. (I mixed both shades with AMBER and it was nice) This morning I tried KIANA - it was a bit too golden-olive for me under the bathroom lights so I didn't bother doublechecking in the sunlight. Then I did a half-face test with CHRYSTAL and JULISA. (These both seem the closest to the Meow "Lynx" mix, Monave "Hyeyeon" and LaurEss Radiant+Soft Gold/Yellow). Unfortunately my BF wasn't around to be coerced into helping me choose so I asked my next door neighbor and without a doubt she picked JULISA. I asked if it was a bit pale, she said no. She thought CHRYSTAL looked a bit pale on me, JULISA was warmer and more glowing. ![]() CHRYSTAL on the left side, JULISA on the right side (p.s. I look all puffy and sleepy because I am still sick)

Re: Milan foundation colors - preview
Lilita-
I agree with the neighbor. Also I have the lighter colors charted and find that Julisa is much more vibrant than Chrystal. Chrystal has that hint of beige-thing going on. Since I was doing the Meow chart of the colors I got I am understanding my undertones a little more. I have serious yellow but they are kind of tan/yellow compared to your peach/yellow. But if it gets too olivey (green) then it doesn't work for me. This stuff is crazy. Is it me or does Simone not really seem to fit. It's much pinker than Kiana. Like if I were doing families- Mya, Chrystal, Lisette- seem like the same undertones just getting darker. Amber, Leah, and Julisa seem related-- Caprice may be the next step up from Julisa? Kiana and Raven are very close but just a touch different but to me Simone doesn't really fit. How crazy am I? Could you imagine making this stuff- I'd be ready for the funny farm. Hats off to the wonderful people who make MMU.

Re: Milan foundation colors - preview
YAY! this chart is coming along GREAT! I think it will be a great help for anyone deciding to give our products a try and even better because it's actual customer opinions! It's great the way you guys help each other along finding a great shade in ALL the brands!
Lilita do you have the same exact makeup on in both those pictures? I love how Julisa looks on you! your face looks more "alive" in that pic! I love it. Your right when you say that a few shades may look alike but they're not! There are some shades that may have a BIT more red or a BIT more black in them and those touches are what makes the difference! Those are shades that I've narrowed down from testers. There are going to be more shades coming but if you ladies feel there are any SERIOUS gaps in foundation selections just let me know , more than happy to make it happen.

Re: Milan foundation colors - preview
Hi Candace - Yes, I am wearing the same makeup (half-half Chrystal-Julisa) in BOTH pics. I posted two pics because i couldn't choose which was the better one. So Julisa is really on my face in both pics. I agree, it's more alive!
![]() Regarding gaps in the foundation selections, just off the top of my head, I think maybe some shades that are more "light-medium", like in between the "Julisa/Chrystal/Lisette" range and the "Olivia/Cynthia/Kiana" range? I am thinking that in summer, if I want to go a bit darker than Julisa there's no equivalent... I don't know, just a thought... Hoozey - Yep. I thought the same thing about Simone. It's definitely olivey beigey and different from the others in the same depth. And that's an interesting point about Chrystal having beige... I think Candace said the same thing ... now I am looking at it again much closer and gee, it's there, but it's SO SUBTLE! I also tried arranging the colors according to families ... I couldn't tell Chrystal and Leah apart and Candace said Chrystal is slightly darker than Leah, same undertones. I thought I was going blind. Maybe I am. I think Kiana is darker than Raven. It's more golden-olive on my skin. Raven was a tad pale/beigey/pinky on me. As for Caprice being the next one up from Julisa, ... it's significantly peachier than Julisa so i wonder if it's more like one up from Chrystal (which is peachier than Julisa)? Anyway, it's all very interesting and I feel a little crazy too! prior to MMU I had no idea about undertones and overtones and all this sort of stuff. Now it's like discovering a new planet! To think that we are each and all so colored and complicated ...And here is the completed chart!! - also posted on the Milan Minerals forum. (two missing colors will be added next week) CLICK HERE

Re: Milan foundation colors - preview
Lilita, Julisa looks great!
Earlier this week I ordered a sample of Kiana because Raven was just not working for me as I first thought it was. Now I wish I had waited for your LIST - what was I thinking? I tried Caprice and it had too much of an orange tinge on me...or is the correct term peach? I mixed Raven and Amber and threw in a tiny bit of Caprice (hate to waste) which gave a nice blend but it was a little light not quite right. I'm not giving up because I relly love the finish and staying power. Your list and descriptions will help a lot. Thanks for putting in the time, we all appreciate it.

Kiana may work for you. It's just a hair darker than Raven but it has a more golden tan vs. peachy tone to it. If you thought Raven was a good match at first, it may be that little something that wasn't quite right with Raven for you. Caprice was really peachy (orange) in comparison to those two. I spent much of the morning playing with Meow samples trying to get that right and am finding that Frisky Korat works as good or better than all the mixing for me. But it does get a little wonky just trying to figure out what's going on. Lilita- great job on the chart! ![]()

Re: Milan foundation colors - preview
Thanks Hoozey. I'm hoping Kiana will do the trick. If not I'll just have to get more....poor me.
Hoozey, what did you think of Simone? In Lilitas pics it looks golde/ kiind of light Raven in the top group of swatches, but in the 2nd group it looks really really light.

Re: Milan foundation colors - preview
Hi Memaize,
Simone looks more neutral beigey than Raven. It has no golden color in it. I think the final chart (scanned color) is more accurate because my camera is a bit unreliable esp. at night with the flash. I did the same thing with Raven! i mixed some Caprice (yes, it's quite orangey) and Amber and it worked, but I think the combo of Raven and Amber makes it a bit too light/ tad "ashy" because Amber is so pale. You may have mentioned this before - what shades you wear in other brands? Hoozey - Do you feel like a mad scientist? ![]() I find it so interesting that several of us can wear LMG in Lumiere and in summer we are each branching off into different undertones/shades. It's so cool that you don't have to mix in Meow! I guess I can wear Chartreux on it's own but there's something about mixing up a *more perfect* shade that is so compelling and addictive, when you have all the ingredients in front of you.
