Which mineral brands offer foundation with SPF?

Do you know of any mineral brands that offer foundation with SPF in it? I am currently using Laura Mercier mineral MU but it's not exactly my color so I have to mix it every time.. BUT it does have SPF 15.

Since I've read on MMU that applying sunscreen to your face isn't exactly effective under makeup, and that you have to apply a whole load of it, I'm looking for a foundation that actually has some SPF "built-in". Any suggestions?

All of them I think... Because of the ingredients.

All MMU has SPF because Titanium dioxide, a primary ingredient, offers it naturally. I believe Zinc Oxide also does.

The only reason the smaller companies don't have SPF on them is that it costs a lot of money to get this tested- thus they don't do this. Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide are both good SPF and all mmu containing them will have some protection. Mad Minerals also sells a SPF powder if you want added protection.

I agree with all the posts on here... I'd rather pay the cheaper price than to have the smaller MMU raise their prices to get an exact "go" for their SPF! I use moisturizer with SPF for that.

Re: Which mineral brands offer foundation with SPF?

Yep, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide offer both UVA and UVB protection, though it will vary more with the coverage you build (average 15 to 25spf). Companies could state this on the sites, as it has very little to do with testing, except for one rather large problem: if ANY cosmetic product manufactured in the US claims to give SPF/sun protection, it becomes, according to the FDA, a drug, and must be marketed as such. This then makes the cosmetic company a pharmaceutical company, something which is a rather messy (no pun intended) business and not something the owner of a tiny home-based company wants to tangle with.

Mixing your foundation with water or moisturizer will give a slightly better spf than the straight powder will because of the density/coverage.

Re: Which mineral brands offer foundation with SPF?

It is not neccessary that all ofundations with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide offer UV protection. The difference between these ingredients working as UV filters or simply as 'colorants'(this the right word?) is in the size of the particles. If they are to big,you can have pure titanium dioxide and still NO UV protection.

Thanks Jiro! I was hoping you'd find this one.
