Mineral make up question .. scars

Ok so a long time ago I remember trying Everyday minerals, I wore it when I was on accutane because I wanted to be as gentle as possible with my skin. I only tried it on a few times however, and it looked so absolutely awful on me. I think it's because I have scars on my face, and by scars I mean actual indented scars. The mineral make up made the scars look even deeper and stand out even more.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem before? And if so, was it only with a particular mineral make up brand?

Re: Mineral make up question .. scars

hi there..
I would recommended to use in Concleaer. cream or loose concealer befor or after applying the foundation.
concealer will cover the scars and the look will be more forgiven I think.
I use in concealer pluse foundation and I cover all my pigmantations.

secound suggetion I will recommended to try a brand that have a full coverage foundations.
like Monave, Cory or Dreamworld..
good luck!

Which EDM formula did you use that gave this unwanted appearance? They have 4 formulas and each produce a difference appearance and finish. Their Original Glo has a glowy finish and accentuates every flaw on the face. Matte is the most matte and Intensive is matte but is very opaqe and covers everything. Semi Matte is worthless IMO.

Re: Mineral make up question .. scars

I used the intensive formula. And i've used concealer too before putting on the foundation, it didn't work at all.

I used to use Covergirl simply powder, and that worked great, but since then i've become ghostly pale. The palest shade in simply powder is too dark for me, and i'm so hesitant to try a new make up because my skin is so sensitive and acne prone which is why I want so badly to change to mineral make up.

Re: Mineral make up question .. scars

To me it sounds like you need a primer to fill in the scars that you describe as indented. A primer would fill in the pockets creating a more even surface to apply your minerals onto. Similar to how you patch a hole in your wall before painting it.

I'm not sure if you'd want to try a powder primer. Honestly I would suggest a silicone primer which would actually go inside the indentations and fill them. Many people here have had great success with Monistat Anti Chafing gel. The ingredients are the same as the expensive cosmetic brand primers but the Monistat is under $7. If it doesn't work, you're not out of a lot of cash.

For me, mineral concealer doesn't cover up my blemishes. I use a traditional concealer and then put mineral makeup over it. It looks good to me.

I have gone back to traditional concealers as well to cover dark pigmented scars from acne. But once they eventually fade, I don't need it anymore.

Re: Mineral make up question .. scars

I have very bad acne scars as well as, including those annoying indents that seems to be made every so more noticable with MMU. However, I love the overall coverage I get from MMU so what I do is use a good primer (I use Smashbox Photofinish), buff my MMU foundation on, and then use Makeup Forever's concealer to cover my scars and "fill-in" the indents. After all that is complete I finish everything up with a light coat of loose powder. Works for me...hopefully it will work for you.
