Question Need mineral foundation help for eczema skin

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum! Or well, usually I lurk here a bit, but I thought I'd take the plunge and start posting

I've been using Everyday Minerals foundation in Sandy Fair (with their rice finishing powder in Fair) for a while now. Have tried several formulas but am not happy with the outcome of any of them

I have very pale, acne & eczema prone skin. The eczema causes my skin to be mostly dry and flaky, with oily yet flaky skin (and some acne) on my forehead. I use mild products on my face and exfoliate twice a week, but ya know, eczema is....well, eczema To make a long story short, I have difficult and sensitive skin.

So far with EDM, it feels like someone is pointing a big spotlight on my face because it seems to highlight all the bad bits instead of covering them up and putting all the emphasis on the flakiness without settling into my skin nicely. And on my forehead it looks caked on even though I use very little. And it gets into all the lines I have on my face instead of smoothing them out.

Hope you girls (& guys) can maybe help me out here. I really want that nice, soft, mineral make up look. Seems like everyone manages to achieve it but me

Anyone else out there with difficult skin who has found a MMU brand they really like?

Thanks in advance!!

Exfoliate with a microfiber washcloth to get the flakies off. Moisturize with diluted jojoba oil.

Re: Need mineral foundation help for eczema skin

did you try to use in the foundation wet? because I think its will improve your texture.

there is a lot of brands that might work for you.
I highlly recommend to order samples.

I have a lot of HG.

like Lauress, Lumiere, Pureanada, Classy, DW, Cory and probably I forgot some..

Re: Need mineral foundation help for eczema skin

I don’t have experience with Everyday Minerals so I don’t know how their minerals sit on the skin. It may be worth trying other brands with different ingredients, some will just work better.

My skin gets flaky, mostly in the winter but dry foundations always seem to make it look worse until I can get the flakiness under control. I would try your minerals wet, possibly mixed with your moisturizer. Dry finishing powders may make flakiness look worse so try it without one and see how it looks.

Re: Need mineral foundation help for eczema skin

I really like BE, even though some ppl might be allergic to bismuth...I have oily skin, prone to breaking out and ever since I stopped using MAC and switched to BE three years ago...my skin has become practically flawless. It's also very soothing, unlike some other MMU brands I have used that made my skin itchy.

I'm fairly new to using MM, but I have the same skin issues, with an added psorisis...lovely huh?!
I've been trying EDM, and so far I have had great results with my skin. It appears to be clearing up and the coverage has been pretty awesome for me. I have some very red blemishes from using a toner that was too harsh for my skin and EDM has covered them wonderfully. I use Clinique foaming facial cleaner (for now at least) and moisturize really well. I let the moisturizer sink in for minimum 15 mins. Then I use my primer, concealer, and a combo of all 3 types of foundation she has. They seem to balance each other out well with my skin considering I have MULTIPLE issues. You may want to experiment with some samples in your color of each of the foundation types. Since I need moisture on most areas, I use more of the foundation for that purpose in my mixture. I'm still sampling other brands to find the one that works best with my skin though.

Sorry, I forgot to add that I used to use a pretty harsh exfoliator that was tearing my skin up and I noticed that would make the dry spots come out even more and my skin would look really red. I switched to using extra virgin olive oil, granulated sugar, and dark brown sugar to exfoliate twice/week. This has also worked wonders for all of the issues with my skin as well.

Re: Need mineral foundation help for eczema skin

Sorry it's taken so long to get back on here to reply, but I just got in from out of town

My moisturizer is actually something I concocted one day, but so far it's worked really well for my skin - especially right now with our weather changing & my psorasis breaking out MAJORLY

I mixed Pure Aloe, Pure Unrefined Shea Butter, A little water, and Rose Essential Oil. This has worked wonders on my skin, but each person's skin is different. I've just found the Aloe & Shea Butter were great moisturizers for me as long as there were no additional additives.

For my primer I'm using EDM Start to Finish Rice Powder-Sunlight. I LOVE this item!!! LOL

Hope this helps!!!!

Re: Need mineral foundation help for eczema skin

Well, I've ordered a full size Lily Lolo foundation after trying one of their samples It's quite nice. Not my HG I think, but still quite nice.

And I've ordered a sample kit of Aubrey Organics for sensitive skin. Hopefully that will make my skin less dry and flaky.

Aaand I have some Lumiere samples on order They say they're suitable for dry skin, so we shall see

Good for you !!

I read aloe vera is a great moisturizer for sensitive skins, so you might want to look into that.
