No more mineral makeup

Ok so this morning I remembered I had a lot of left over mineral makeup samples so I figured I'd give it a shot and wear the foundation I have. Well as before, I got no coverage whatsoever, no matter how little or much I put on. I'm gonna stick with my conventional makeup. Ugh! This is like the 10th try with diff mineral makeup. I give up.

Re: No more mineral makeup

What brands have you tried? Is there anything in particular that you're having trouble with?

Unfortunately, just because mmu is all the rage it doesn't mean its for everyone.

Re: No more mineral makeup

How are you applying it? What kind of brush are you using? Application makes all the difference in the world.

Re: No more mineral makeup

Mineral makeup just doesn't work for some girls. It's a great product, but a lot of girls feel as though they don't get enough coverage despite what they do. If you're getting better coverage elsewhere and you're content with how it looks, then just stick to what works

Very true. If a girl has near perfect skin, her makeup will look good most of the time. But if a girl has a lot of inperfections and flaws, it's very hard to feel good about the coverage your makeup is providing. Not all of us were blessed with flawless skin.

Re: No more mineral makeup

Which brands have you tried? Some offer more coverage than others.

Some people just don't like mmu. If a regular line's foundation works better for you then use that.

Re: No more mineral makeup

It makes me feel that way too. I have tried PL, it seem not to work for my skin and cory is too chalky and white even with little application. I am just waiting for my last orders from monave and sheer miracle and will give alima a try as it is sold in singapore. It its still not working than I close shop. Can't afford to try every brand as it cost alot of money paying for samples and shipping. Whew!!!
I really envy when others say that it gives them good coverage, makes them feel glow and nice and it last the whole day and blah blah. It really feels nice.

good luck to the rest.

Re: No more mineral makeup

It's taken me quite along time to find the right one for me. I now use Elemental Beauty and it's perfect for me, light and a perfect match in my skin tone.

Re: No more mineral makeup

I think there is a knack to applying mineral makeup and does also take some getting used to. At first I wasnt sure about mineral makeup but once I got used to applying it wit a kabuki brush and also applying it in layers I got on alot better with it and would go back to liquid makeup now.

Re: No more mineral makeup

I am alot breakouts on my face after using Pure Luxe. Shld I stop that brand or just continue. I do not have a problem skin just that its oily. I rather be happy with that kind of skin. PL foundation is very good..the powder is very smooth when applied but than it doesnt suit my skin. I do not have problem using the kabuki brush as i go very little with my foundation and than increase the layers...
Cory is abit more challenging because its not that fine..when applied on the face it becomes chalky. Today I tried mixing the foundation with some aloe vera gel and applied it on my face...I needed more foundation as it doesnt cover all my face...I just wanted to see how it goes for a few hours. I did my work out and my face was all sweaty and i started to itch on my face. I became abit irritated and wash my face off. And now Im wearing another shade of cory's but than my face is already oily. I used the foundy without any moisturer. Huh!!!

Still waiting for monave and sheer miracle foundations to arrive. Hope i find my dream in that.
thanks guys for your inputs.

Re: No more mineral makeup

Sadly, it is true that mmu is not for everyone... The whole reason I got turned on to it is b/c I ordered my mom a BE starter kit a few years ago for her b-day since she had mentioned she wanted to give it a try. She did not like it at all- she said it gave her no coverage and took too long to apply. She said for me to try it and I fell in love! I really don't use BE anymore, cept the mineral veil and the true radiance, but I am still all about MMU! I don't think I could ever go back! My aesthetican has her own private label line of pressed MMU, and it covers so freakin good! Not chalky at all, but nice full coverage, even w/o applying concealer underneath. I still apply it with a small flat buki brush, and it works great. Have you tried pressed MMU applied w a brush? Maybe the loose is too sheer for you.

Re: No more mineral makeup

Pure Luxe has kaolin clay in their foundations - good for some oily skins, but you really have to get all of it off at night.

It could be that MMU foundation isn't for you, but could you really give up all the gorgeous eyeshadow and blush shades? I could never afford that kind of variety in regular makeup!

I'm just the opposite - I have pretty dry skin (have to keep it well-moisturised, especially with MMU) but nothing that I really need to hide. Regular makeup, even the kind that's supposed to be sheer, ends up looking like a mask on me. So do all but the sheerest MMU foundations, but I finally found one that worked for me - Silk Naturals.

Sheer Miracle only has a few shades, but they are very forgiving, and the coverage is fairly heavy without looking dreadful (even I could get away with it, but it wouldn't be my first choice). So it may work out for you. I'm not as crazy about her blushes and eyeshadows, and there's next-to-nothing for selection in those unless it's changed a lot since the last time I looked at the site, but the foundation is pretty decent, and I hope you'll be able to find a match.

If not - wear what looks good on you!

Re: No more mineral makeup

Oh my goodness I know how you feel, I got sick and tired or trying mineral makeup too, I really wanted to like it, I really did because I hate how liquid foundation would come off and feel wet on my skin, but...
after looking long and hard....I found Jane Ireldale...let me tell you though, this makeup is crazy expensive (39) bucks a pop and I had tried it before only to end of crying over so much money when the color match was crap...so finally last month the urge to not give up on minerals came over me when my face was melting and I went on the website and looked at the colors before I went in person and tried on the ones I had written down from online...so in BE I was medium, in EDM I was light olive and in Jane Iredale I am Warm Sienna...it is the perfect match... I totaly know how you feel about coverage since I found all the other brands wouldnt do anything for me but for some reason I fell in love with the finish of Jane Iredale...very luminous and it gave enough coverage to cover up my scarring (quite a bit on my cheeks) all the while it looks SUPER natural....though if you're on the oily side you would have to buy the face mist to keep your olies at bay which I also loved! Here brushes are crazy soft! I have the handi and love it...
I come to realize that there is no perfect brand...no match will ever be perfect for anyone so this brand may not work for you..but after pulling my hair after trying everything I am really happy with Jane Iredale and think I'll be using this a while. The quality is awesome and it just makes my skin look bare while covering everything...way pricy but worth it for me....
liquid foundation wont ever compare to the convinience, finish and healthier mineral makeup...i am so glad I gave it one last shot before I called it quits! I was surprised though that there werent very many post on Jane Iredale here, probably because the hardest part if finding a color match and spending that much on something that risky probably turns a lot of people off
Good luck!

Re: No more mineral makeup

I think there's certain formulations that are more friendly for new users of MMU. I wouldn't recommend a new user to try cory or any of the heavier foundations because there's a definite learning curve with application of these as they can look chalky and white. i think new users will love companies like KT Naturals and Blusche. these are really easy to apply. and also, you need a good brush or else MMU will look awful on the skin.
