Ocean mist & Every day minerals

I've seen a lot of good threads about these two companies. I have been using bare minerals for several weeks now & it is causing more cystic acne than usual for me, so I decided to give these other two companies a try, so I just ordered free samples from both of them.
In bare minerals I wear the light foundation, summer bisque for my concealer, warmth as my blush, & the mineral veil.
From ocean mist I chose: golden fairest, golden fair, & golden light foundations, elegant nude blush, lightly tinted mineral veil, & light concealer.
From everyday minerals I chose: fairly light, light winged butter, & golden medium in matte formulas, natural blush, & multi=tasking concealer.
I can't wait for them to get here!!

Re: Ocean mist & Every day minerals

Both companies make very good foundations! I have more than a necessary amount of makeup from both of these companies. I'm sure that you will have much fun playing with your samples when they arrive.

I do personally love Oceanmist's foundation! It is an excellent formula and IMO holds it's own against any other. But then again I am biased in that it's one of my favorites

Re: Ocean mist & Every day minerals

Thank you!

I am concerned about ocean mist because my skin is VERY oily, will it be able to control that? Bare minerals does a very good job of it, though, so maybe it will too. The every day minerals comes in a matte formula, so I tend to think it will work well for me. But I've heard a lot of people complain about the coverage they get with every day minerals, not enough I mean.

Like I said before, can't wait for them to get here so I can see what I do/don't like.

I hope you like them!

I personally preferred Oceanmist over EDM because it seems more finely milled.

Re: Ocean mist & Every day minerals

I liked Ocean Mist much better than Everyday Minerals. I just ordered some more samples from Ocean Mist. When I first started using Ocean Mist, all they didn't have the goldens, so I tried the warms, neutrals and olives and the neutral is ok, warms a little orange and the olives almost close. So, I just ordered the goldens, so hopefully they work.

Re: Ocean mist & Every day minerals

ok, the ocean mist samples arrived today. but my brushes are still wet from cleaning after applying this morning's makeup. so maybe later today I'll try out the 3 shades to see which best matches my skin & then tomorrow I'll wear the best match & see how I like it & how it lasts, etc. Hopefully the everyday minerals will arrive on Monday & hopefully I'll be able to choose between the two.

Re: Ocean mist & Every day minerals

Personally I liked OM better than EDM in terms of not only color match but also coverage.

Re: Ocean mist & Every day minerals

Ok, my brushes dried & I couldn't wait any longer........I didn't even try out the buttermilk, it looks really light, but I still might try it just to see. I did try dandelion, it's the darkest of my three. It looks great, but I think it's a tad dark on me, but I do think it would be a great summer color for me. Tomorrow I will try out Lilia, the medium shade I ordered & see how I like it & see how it lasts throughout the whole day. I have to say I love the concealer, it's just as good as the BE one I bought & loved. The mineral veil is very sheer, didn't seem to alter my foundation color at all, which is good.

EDM is okay but doesn't have good staying power unlike Ocean Mist which is HG material for me.

HelP! I have oily skin and have tried everything (BE Sheercover Amazing Cos, Loreal, JAne Iredale) and they all go on great but are gone by afternoon! What is my best option for MMU! I dont want to spend anymore on MU that I will just use once or twice!

Re: Ocean mist & Every day minerals

Do you use oil blotting sheets during the day? I couldn't live without them. I still have oil & soak it up with the sheets during the day, but my makeup still looks great (at least when I was using BE it did) & I rarely had to retouch it at all during the day.

The mineral veil absorbs oil the most.......have you tried applying the mineral veil under your foundation? That's what I do. And if I still have any shiny areas (t zone) I take my concealer brush & pat the mineral veil into those shiny areas until the shine is gone.

Re: Ocean mist & Every day minerals

I thought the same thing!! They looked way too yellow/orange in the pot. But they look great on! I think buttermilk is gonna be my shade, I'm wearing it today, anxious to see how it looks throughout the day. And I have my hubby on alert to examine it in all lighting & see how it looks. Last night I had lilia on one half of my face & dandelion on the other half & had hubby examine it. We both agreed they were both a little bit too dark. So this morning I put on the buttermilk & so far it's looking pretty good. I am really in love with the nude blush, it's so subtle yet gives me such a great glow.
