Question Question regarding samples

Just curious, what do you do with the samples that you order but don't work for you? I have a drawer full of baggies and mini jars of colors that I can't use. It seems a shame to throw them all out but, I don't have any friends or family interested in using them. Any clever uses or suggestions? TIA

Re: Question regarding samples

I usually mix my own concoction. If a blush sample is too dark I get a blush sample that is light and mix it in with the dark blush sample to tone it down. I do the same with eyeshadow samples. I mix every possible color to get another color. I never know what I'll get in the end.

Re: Question regarding samples

Generally I'll try and mix foundations that didn't work with other foundations to see what I get. If I have one that's too light, I might might mix it with one that's too dark and get a shade that works better. That's only to use them up, though... I doubt I'd ever buy two different foundations to mix together for ongoing use.

With some samples that just haven't worked at all, I've gotten angry with them and just dumped the powder into the trash and saved the jar [if it came in a jar].

Re: Question regarding samples

I have a bunch of foundation samples. I wouldn't use them. I'm afraid if I mix them together I will wind up using one that broke me out. A few are so far out of my range I couldn't even mix them into a workable foundation.

I have all my samples in three little drawstring bags, just sitting in my linen closet. I wouldn't think of throwing them away. There is a little bit of money tied up in those samples.

What would ya'll do with them, since I can't actually use them?

Don't use a big word where a diminutive one will suffice.

Re: Question regarding samples

Hmm let's see for foundation samples you can always swap or sell as someone mentioned. If they are too light or too dark you can use them to conceal or contour. Depending on the shades you get you may not like them on your eyes but how would they look on your lips? ( for lip safe shades of course) if they're really wild shades why not grab a clear nail polish and turn it into a nail polish? It's the beauty of loose pigments you can use them so many ways!
Like Kat said theres money tied up in those samples so don't let them go to waste

Another idea is you can send unopened samples, personal care products, even clothing & accessories to Working Wardrobes. This is an organzation that helps adults in crises by giving them clothing, personal items needed to wear to a job interview & reenter the workforce. Donations are probably tax deductable too.

That's a really neat idea! Thanks for posting it.

Unfortunately, I have used from all of them to see if they worked for me.

Yes...if they're in good shape your local women's shelter or rehab would probably appreciate them too.

Re: Question regarding samples

Providing i don't have an adverse reaction i won't discard of them; instead i would share with friends or relatives that could make good use of them. Afterall, samples cost money and not to mention Shipping.

If I get some samples that don't work then I usually give them to my Mum.

Some examples of my not.so.bad.after.all.samples:

*too light foundation -works great under eyes and as an eyeshadowbase

*too dark (and matte...) bronzer -nice, earthy brown eyeshadow

*too light and SPARKLY
