Unhappy Regular Skincare routine with Mineral mu?

Hi girls, I have a problem. First let me begin by telling you that I have not changed my skincare routine since converting over to mmu. When I started using mmu, I noticed that I did not break out anymore like I used to with my MAC studiofix and was thrilled. However, it's been about six months now and I feel like my skin is not improving anymore. It's kind of at this stale-mate, where I don't break out as much as I used to, but still get the odd little pimple (only with some mmu companies; Sheer Cover, Lumiere VV) . So, my question is this; have you changed your skincare routine upon switching over to mmu? If so, in what way? I use the Philosophy purity cleanser, it's a 4-in-1 (cleanser, toner, light hydrating moisturizer, makeup remover), then I use the Micro-Delivery mini peel pads, When Hope is Not Enough serum and lastly When Hope Is Not Enough moisturizer and in the mornings I use the Smashbox Primer (and sometimes Laura Geller spackle primer). Well, this is pretty much my skincare routine, if anyone has any suggestions, it would be much appreciated, thanks girls!

Re: Regular Skincare routine with Mineral mu?

Sunny-
I've been "using" (we addicts need to say it like it is) MMU for almost 5 years but this winter my skin went through a major change. It got much drier than ever before. I have tried Purity cleanser and it's pretty good but I think it still had some kind of sulfates in it as it's cleansing agent. Anything with sulfates seems to overstrip my skin. I found this line at Sally's Beauty called Purist Naturals and fell in love with the Hydrating Hibiscus creamy cleanser. I also love the Green tea moisturizer in that line. It isn't greasy but really seems to sooth my skin. I occasionally use the cucumber toner too. There are other products like a exfoliating scrub and a clay mask but I haven't tried them. Also, they make a cleanser/moisturizer for normal-oily skin too- you may want to try those?
About once a week I use Serious Skin Cares(SSC) Vit. C-line microdermabrasion- one part is a gritty paste, the other is a clear gel that warms up when applied to part one.
I've tried Smashbox primer but prefer SSC's A-primer. It's got a bit of glow to it and it goes on slicker. I don't use primer too often though because I don't have issues with my MMU staying in place with my dry skin. It also has some Vit. A-- thus the name. They also make a vit. C primer but I like the A better. I also use squalane oil when I need more oil or jojoba.

I'm glad to hear good things about the Serious Skin care line, I always see it on the Canadian home shopping channel. guess I'll pick up on some of their products, I saw a great kit the other day with the A-primer, I think...
anyways, thanks Hoozey, maybe it is the Philosophy stuff, have you tried any of their other products or heard any reviews on them?

Re: Regular Skincare routine with Mineral mu?

I just wash it all of with my Dove beauty bar, and then use my Chanel precision face cream. That's it. Oh - and every other night or so I use my Avon oily/blackhead skin masque.

Re: Regular Skincare routine with Mineral mu?

I've been able to be much gentler with my skin. My skin isn't sensitive but I find that I don't need heavy duty products in order to make a difference anymore. Although, my skin has gotten much drier than usual this winter like Hoozey said. I never used to need moisturizer.

Re: Regular Skincare routine with Mineral mu?

I use almost the same skincare as you, except I don't use primer. Purity cleanser, Hope in a Jar moisturizer, and When Hope Is Not Enough eye cream everyday, then the 2-step Microdermabrasion once a week (the Vitamin-C one that looks & smells like concentrated orange juice....yum!) I I rarely get breakouts, and I sleep in my MMU most of the time!

I'm also embarassed to say that I too on many occasions have slept in my mmu without any negative effects...just can't figure out what it is...guess it's just the "oat" ingredient in the Lumiere VV.

Re: Regular Skincare routine with Mineral mu?

Almost the same: I use Decleor skincare products. Toner, aromaoil and moisturizer for combination skin. I used that before MMU too. The addition is skincare-products with AHA.

Re: Regular Skincare routine with Mineral mu?

I use Olive Oil to remove all of my makeup nightly and then apply a very warm cloth.

I then may or may not exfoliate with a microfiber cloth.

I then wash with a Green Tea soap.

I then may or may not tone with Apple Cider Vinegar/H2O

Next I moisturize with Emu Oil

Lately I've been applying an overnight minerals treatment as my final step.

Is the apple cider vinegar ok for dry skin too?
