Using a flocked/velour sponge to apply MMU?

Hi there- I'm the first to confess I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to MMU. I only buy from one website, www.lilylolo.co.uk, and mostly it's because of their eyeshadows, which are lovely and pigmented. I DID try a couple samples of concealer/foundation type deals, but I found that they just didn't give me the coverage I needed. My skintone is fairly uneven, especially around my forehead, and I'm prone to light outbreaks.

HOWEVER, my skin is pretty good atm (for me, I mean! ), so I was thinking about giving mineral foundation another shot. On the Lilylolo website, they sell flocked/velour sponges for about £3 a pop, which they say will give fuller coverage. Has anyone tried this type of thing? Did it work?

TIA for any opinions!

I haven't tried it but those who have got it to work for them say it works really well. Some mmu foundations come with sponges. I myself prefer a flat top brush by EDM.

Re: Using a flocked/velour sponge to apply MMU?

I purchased a pack of 2 flocked sponges last month on sale after reading about them. I have not tried them out yet. From what I’ve read it can give better coverage but it may be harder to work with, more chances of streaking or uneven application. It’s probably just a matter of trying until you get it to work.

That's funny because I also ordered a flocked sponge from Lily Lolo and received it today. I have no idea how to use it though LOL.

I tried it a bit today but it seemed that the foundation stuck to the sponge instead of blending into my skin....

Yeah, ah well, it's fun to learn and it's not hugely expensive so I thought let's give it a go

Re: Using a flocked/velour sponge to apply MMU?

I like the sponge method, but really prefer MAC's egg shaped for application when it's hot so I don't itch with the heat but for overall application to me the flat top brush is best and easiest.

Re: Using a flocked/velour sponge to apply MMU?

I have tried the sponge application, not bad though but sometimes if I pickup too much than there will be a patch on my face. It does take too much time than using a brush.
I have got questions. If you are using the sponge, do you wash it after every application. Do you use the same sponge for the other types of foundation that you use. Use one sponge for the same brand or foundation??? Sorry for so many questions..these were bugging me. Hope you ladies can help ....
Thanks so much.

Emma

Re: Using a flocked/velour sponge to apply MMU?

I use both, depending on which MMU and what kind of coverage I want. With BE, it's always the Handy Buki brush; with e.l.f. it's always with a triangular MU sponge (because there's almost no coverage otherwise). With Philosophy, most of the time I use the sponge that comes on the jar, but sometimes I'll open the jar and get powder out with a baby kabuki or concealer brush. HTH.
