Re: Energy/nutritients bar
I've never used them before, but I know Luna and Power Bar are both brands I've been recommended before my trainers when I worked in a gym. There's A LOT of brands these days...

Re: Energy/nutritients bar
Depends on what your preferences are. I rely on bars A LOT since I am always so busy and not always have time to sit down and eat at work. My current favorites are the The South Beach Diet bars and Myoplex Lite bars. The south beach diet has some high protein, low carb, low fat bars that taste great and are absolutely healthy.

Re: Energy/nutritients bar
For someone who knows nothing about energy bars, what is something that you should look for when selecting one?

Re: Energy/nutritients bar
I like Luna Bars, Cliff bars and Lara Bars. I'm allergic to a lot of things and these are just about the only energy bars that I can eat. I like them because they come in yummy chocolate flavors.

It really depends. Different bars for different reasons. But, usually, Low sugar, low carb bars (unless they're energy bars...then more carbs are ok).
I like the Zone Bars. They taste awesome and don't leave that "taste" in your mouth. I also like the Low Sugar Detour Bar.

Re: Energy/nutritients bar
My fave is the Probar in whole berry blast flavor! Luna are pretty good too but the Probars are tastier to me and I can feel a difference energy-wise with them.

I look for bars that have low sugar, high fiber, low fat, and preferably high protein. Otherwise, there are many bars out there that are pure candy; it's like eating a chocolate bar. The best bars I've found nutrition-wise are the south beach diet ones, the high protein ones. They have lots of flavors and are very yummy too! They save my life when I have to take 24-32 hour calls and dont have time to have meals.

Re: Energy/nutritients bar
Sorry to interrupt this thread, but I have a question concerning protein bars. Are you supposed to eat them a certain time before you do weights? Afterwards?
I got a little selection at the store today since I find it somewhat hard to include more protein in my diet (I donīt like eggs that much, plus they leave my stomach sooo full for a loong time. And cooking a dish that has meat in it takes up too much time for my taste lol) and since Iīm trying to build muscles I was thinking these protein bars might help me out.

I'd eat them about an hour before working out.
If you're eating after your workout then I'd do it as soon as you can.
I usually like a protein shake after my workout because liquids are easier/faster to digest.
