18 Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days

Thought this would be interesting for those with diabetes or those who have someone close to them that has diabetes, this might be an alternative/solution they could try to improve their health.

Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days is an independent do***entary film that chronicles six Americans with diabetes who switch to a diet consisting entirely of vegan, organic, uncooked food in order to reverse disease without pharmaceutical medication. The six are challenged to give up meat, dairy, sugar, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, soda, junk food, fast food, processed food, packaged food, and even cooked food for 30 days. The film follows each participant's remarkable journey and captures the medical, physical, and emotional transformations brought on by this radical diet and lifestyle change. We witness moments of struggle, support, and hope as what is revealed, with startling clarity, is that diet can reverse disease and change lives.
The film highlights each of the six before they begin the program and we first meet them in their home environment with their families. Each participant speaks candidly about their struggle to manage their diabetes and how it has affected every aspect of their life, from work to home to their relationships.

Thanks for the video. But such a diet change is so extreme I bet not many people can stick to it. What worked for me, at the onset of type 2 diabetes when I was obese, was to lose about 20 lbs and change my diet not to indulge in bad stuff. I got used to not eating a whole candy bar, going through a dozen donuts in 3 days, spurging on Ho Ho's, or eating big filling restaurant meals!

Re: Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days

Great information and I don't have trouble believing that it works; but there's no way I could do that. I don't eat enough veggies, and I eat too many carbs (that's what got me in this mess) but I'm striving to do better. The injection I take (Byetta, not insulin) is helping me eat less, and I'm also avoiding processed sugar and flour as much as I can conveniently (that is, I don't ask people to cater to my needs when I eat at their house, I just avoid those things at home and when eating out, with the occasional splurge). The newest research into diabetes says that diabetics can eat what they want, they just have to be smart about it and balance bad stuff out. The best thing about diabetes is that it's a real wake-up call to watch what you eat -- it's about more than just my weight and my health here, it's my life that's on the line, and I take that seriously. And the good news is that with treatment, I don't crave the carbs like I used to; my body used to SCREAM at me sometimes that it wanted sugar, or tell me "you HAVE to stop at Bojangles for a chicken biscuit NOW!" I rarely get those cravings anymore, which is a relief.
The best thing I've read, not surprisingly, is Diabetes for Dummies. Alan Rubin, the author, is just a fount of information!
