Do you remember old cartoons?
Remember when cartoons had lessons? My first realization that we were veering away from that was while I was watching the power puff girls. Now it's rare (compared to when I watched cartoons as a child) to see obvious positive lessons in cartoons! lol. Just an observation.

Re: Do you remember old cartoons?
that is very true. In fact at the end of every she-rah episode they had a section which was all 'the lesson from today's show is..'
But I watched it again really reccently, and you know what? i kind of don't think that everything needs a lesson.
Like, when they first wrote books, they had to have a lesson in them, and now people can write about whatever they want, and it's for entertainment.
I think it's kind of like that. Maybe I'm just old and cynical

Yeah I agree we don't really need lessons, but do the kids? I don't know how I'd be if I didn't learn a darn thing from all those hours of power rangers, lambchops, sailormoon, etc. lol

Oh my..Captain Planet. I watched Tom and Jerry a lot. Didn't teach me much except that cats employ the usage of bowls for trapping mice.

Re: Do you remember old cartoons?
Yeah... I remember when it was worth it to wake up early on Saturdays to watch cartoons! IMO they pretty much suck now. I like Veggie Tales, but I have all of those on DVD already.
I don't remember Garfield ever having a lesson, but maybe it did. It was my favorite.

Re: Do you remember old cartoons?
I miss when cartoons had a moral story going on! They actually held my interest, because there was an actual point to the show. Now, the few cartoons I can think of having that are shows on PBS (Arthur is my fav). I can't even watch cartoons anymore (and I LOVE cartoons - yes, still at my age, I'm a dork...), because I find the storylines and characters so ridiculous. If I had kids, I don't think I'd want a TV in my house. Meh.
You know what show I miss? And this is going to sound REALLY old, but JEM & the Holograms!

I have a bunch of songs/videos saved to my youtube account, lol.

Re: Do you remember old cartoons?
I loved Sailor Moon, Power Rangers, Cosby Kid, Kid'n Play, Smurfs, those were the kind that had morals in the story.
And... The Disney Afternoon (Darkwing Duck, Tailspin, Goof Troop, Duck Tails)! That was fun to watch too, however there was less to do with morals and more about "slapstick".
Ahh... the memories!
