I could scream ..sorry ..just have to RANT! Friday morning I was hit by a deer! There were 2 of them ...yearlings ..small ones. I stopped in time to not hit Bambi1 ..but just as I looked to the other side ..Bambi2 hit me ..scared the crap out of me too (not literally). MY brand new van has been hit. At first I was concerned about Bambi2 ..although he probably only stunned himself and I didn't go back to look. I didn't think there was any damage ..until I went out Friday after work and saw the damage (and hair) ...so on the way home I got an estimate .. $838. The collision guy said I got off cheap ..and apparently it's REALLY bad lately ..MANY people are getting hit by deer.

So ..why am I pissed ..I have insurance right? NO ..my STUPID husband who THOUGHT he paid the bill ...well ..NO ...no payment ...insurance cancelled! So NOW we have to pay out of pocket! He thought he paid (via the phone - automated) but apparently ..NO ...he didn't! So ...just before the holidays I have to pony up a good chunk of Christmas money to get my car fixed (well ..HE'S paying for this one!) I told him ..don't you think you should have called if the payment hadn't come out of your account after a week! DUH!

Ok ..sorry ..I know ..I'm safe ..and NOTHING has happened that could have been WORSE! BUT SHEESH! ..okay ..sorry for the rant ..thanks!

Ooh, that's horrible to be hit by a wild animal. I once hit a wild turkey (back in Kentucky), and it flew into the air and landed on top of the roof of the car. It really frightens you.

Oh Kim, what a nightmare! I used to live up in the PA area and know all about the 'suicidal' deer. Their population is really out of control (but I won't go on that soapbox! ha ha!) and I've seen lots of dead deer on the sides of the highway.

I'd be furious at my husband if he were to forget to pay the insurance! Is there any way you can do just what's needed to make your van street legal and fix the rest after the holidays?

I am so sorry, Kim! I'm glad it wasn't worse and that you're ok. I would be pissed at my husband for not paying the insurance, too! We all make mistakes, though. Just really bad timing and again, i'm sorry.

Oooo sorry to hear this Kim. I'm glad that you're ok (and maybe the deer as well). With no insurance it could have been much much worse.
