i'm trying to move out of my place, but there aren't many choices for places like rent.com.
my town isn't too big and rent is expensive around here.

so where else do i look???

craigslist.org is definitely a nice place to start and see.

rent.com is a waste of money, in my opinion, as well as the other sites just like that. don't bother with those.

the only way we (my family and i) have been able to get apartments are through 1. realtors and 2. connections.

realtors are expensive, so i'm not sure if you're up for paying for that. i wouldn't.

connections are important. the way we got our current apt. is because we're the same nationality and the landlord is my cousin's boss at his job. another way we got another apt. was because the superintendent of the building was my aunt's husband's friend.

getting an apt. is really difficult. try to ask around, like your coworkers and stuff.

for now, definitely search as much as you can on craigslist.

also, be aware almost every single person will do a credit check.

That or how about your local newspaper? They sometimes have listings.

The best way I've found apartments is through friends or friends of friends. This way you can usually cir***vent the credit check if you're credit isn't the hottest.

That was my guess too --- that's the easiest way out here

Looking through friends/relatives really helps..word of mouth-found my best apartments like this..

Local classifieds, we have also have rental papers here

Do you have a university/college nearby? Sometimes they have postings up or may have a list of rentals available

Driving around the are you want to live in-looking for rentals..writing down the numbers.
