Why do products get discontinued?
Ok so I emailed Dermablend like I was told to by some of you about their one makeup product and asked for a sample. And they sent me this in return:
Dear Tyler,Thank you for contacting Dermablend. Our Acne Solutions line is being discontinued. However, all of our products are non-comedogenic and non-acnegenic. To see our full line of products, please visit www.dermablend.com. Let us know if you have any further questions.Thank you,Dermablend Customer Service
So why??? As if this product didnt make enough money lol. Actually I shouldnt say that cuz I dont no that for sure but I thought they would make good money. Anyways I always see products go under or discontinued!! WHy is this?? Even if they make good money I have seen it before. What other reasons could it be?

Re: Why do products get discontinued?
Sometimes things get discontinued because the ingredients that they're made with aren't available anymore. Like that, a watercolor color made with the pigment quinacridone gold has been discontinued (from all brands that used that pigment) because the big producers , like BASF, stopped producing that pigment because the biggest buyers of them, car manufacturers, stopped using that pigment since almost nobody nowadays buy retail golden cars (except people who like to do "tuning")

Re: Why do products get discontinued?
Often I find thing I like dicontinued so they can make way for new and improved version of that product or they may be going to come out with something better.

Re: Why do products get discontinued?
I agree w/ both... Or, the company found a product wasn't a big seller and they were losing money on it...

Re: Why do products get discontinued?
Well thats too bad. I dont like anything Dermablend has to offer really. That was the only thing I wanted to try, but oh well. Maybe they will come out with something better.

Re: Why do products get discontinued?
Its a marketing scheme. Get new customers while keep the current customers from getting bored. Or some products just dont sell

Re: Why do products get discontinued?
because the product isn't popular. so when you really like a product buy lots of it if it will last until you need it. if not, search for it on the internet and stores that sell it.

Re: Why do products get discontinued?
It's a great way to make improvements, as well as to keep potential (and current) customers interested.

Re: Why do products get discontinued?
sometimes it is not about popularity or selling rates. it is complicated marketing rules... company can only have this much products, and they need to keep classics while they need to come up with a novelty, so they have to get rid of something. sometimes product that sells better than "classic" discontinues.. example? organza classic and organza indecence... the latter was selling better, from what I know but it was discontinued...

Re: Why do products get discontinued?
I hate when products get discontinued! That happens to some of my favorite Lancôme products... I think a lot of factors get involved into the company's decision: marketing rules, not a big seller, fashion trends etc... but when you really love a product and it gets discontinued, it sucks!
