Purple Fever Takes Over Hollywood

Throw out those black cocktail dresses because purple is the new black. This color has been in style since the Middle Ages as it was known to be the color for Royalty. Now it’s turned into the color for celebrities.

Last night singer / actress Katharine McPhee wore a purple jewel tone cocktail dress by Jay Godfrey to the 2nd Annual Allure Magazine “Most Alluring Bodies” exhibit last night. McPhee looked stunning in the strapless cocktail dress as the color worked well with her complexion.

Katharine isn’t the only star that has purple fever. “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria wore a beautiful purple Marchesa gown to the Met gala this past week. Doesn't end with couture for Eva. At the "You're Gotta Have Heart" benefit in Los Angeles, Eva wore a plain cotton purple dress. Another star that was recently sporting this hot trend was Maggie Gyllenhaal.

With all this purple talk here is a fashion tip: make sure not to wear purple in Thailand, it's known to be the color of mourning widows.

Cute dresses, but for some reason I'm just not big on the dark purple right now...I think Im just waiting for it to get hot here so I can put on some really bright spring colors. Maybe if it were fall i'd be more enthused...

it's a very popular winter colour over here.. lots of purple shoes out. I think it's quite a sexy colour, although not so suitable for spring as it is over there in the US!
