Anyone have anything to say about this?

Re: Obama and Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright

Was that the Reverend that he was associated with that made those nasty remarks?

Re: Obama and Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright

i heard some of Obama's speech. It was a really good speech but what he really needed to do was disassociate himself from such hateful language. I know it was his minister, but its like you had a family member who did something you couldn't support.

I would have disassociated myself from him after the nasty 9-11 comments, you have to watch the company you keep, even the religious company

Re: Obama and Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright

Over the years, I've watched Rev. Wright several times, and he has always been controversial. I understand why Obama does not disassociate, it's his choice, like it or not. Rev. Wright does not dictate who he is. Also, I'm very accepting of Obamas speech. It touched many a nerve, but he spoke the truth. He said some things that are very often known, but not said in public. For some it was TMI.

Over the past few weeks a few harmful political bigots have come to light:
Obama--Rev. Wright
Clinton--Geraldine Feraro
McCain--Pastor John Hagee

Re: Obama and Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright

Blech, no I really don't. I'm pretty much just exhausted in general trying to find someone I support that I've stopped watching it all. But I did see some stuff on this and wasn't really shocked. The rev was not very professional...but clinton and obama seemed to do pretty good in responding to the whole thing.

What I DID notice that I found interesting was that in Hilary's response speech there was only one person of all the "collegues" or whatever that was standing behind her that was in camera view. It just so happened that it was a black guy...i thought that was funny. I'm sure he's a very important guy, but Jerry and I were just wondering if it was a coincidence or if he was strategically placed there as the only person in view to say hey look I LOVE black people. I don't know, just seems like something they would do.

The guy behind obama was a redneck lookin guy in an orange trucker hat with a gray handle bar mustache....lol I don't know how he got back there.

We had a good laugh.

That's funny, Kaylin!

As far as the minister goes...I can't imagine a true minister spreading as much hate as that! He doesn't seem to be right in the head...

I think Obama needed to make the speech. Unfortunately, I didn't hear it.
Is Obama going to stop attending Rev. Wright's church?

the most significant thing i heard about this was about how incredulous Obama was that everyone was making such a big deal about this.

Re: Obama and Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright

I was watching CNN polls and Obama lost 10 points since the incident hit the fan.

I'm African-American and Mr. Wright's speech is alarming to me. I only mention this because there was some reference that this is "typical" and understood within the black community. I'm here to say, "NO IT'S NOT!" But I will say that I've only heard things like this from Louis Farrakhan, in which whom I do not share the same ideologies.

Furthermore, in reference to his race speech, Obama stated that his grandmother was a "typical white person." The media has analyzed this to mean that he's stating that all whites are racists. Where is his PR person? They need to stop him from putting his foot further into his mouth. This is politics. And this is how the game is played.

Very well stated.

i think this issue is important because it gives everyone an idea of how he (obama) would deal with things when he is president. So far a good speech but not enough distancing himself from Wright is hurting him big time.

I strongly agree with the comment about Obama's advisors.

Re: Obama and Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright

In politics, you tell it all and you tell it fast (even though I think he should have left the grandmother anecdote out in the first speech. It was too much information and we didn't need to know).

Obama should have apologized and stated that he would no longer attend Wright's church.

On a New York Times blog (which I've been glued to for two days), someone stated that Obama makes racist remarks in his first book. Has anyone read it?
