The Obama Train!

I'm on it! Who else is on it? I have a Barack Obama T-shirt, hoodie, and ring tone. People think I've gone nuts, but that's okay. My husband and I have already given quite a bit of money to Barack's campaign and we will definitely be giving him much more. I really like how Oprah has really campaigned behind him. I don't think she has ever given any other candidate this much vote of confidence.

Sometimes I just love politics, especially when there's an excited buzz surrounding it. Since I have turned 18, I have voted in every local, state, and national election I could, and I'm gonna go out there again and vote in the primaries!

Everyone get out there and vote!

Has Oprah ever been involved in politics before Obama?

Re: The Obama Train!

Ok so I like him but I think he needs to go back and get more experience. Plus I don't think the country is ready to vote for a black man or a woman. It is horrible to say but I just don't think the country is ready. I was looking at the caucus results for the Iowa counties and he did not win a lot of the rural counties. These are the counties with the farmers and blue-collar workers. He won the more urban counties. I wonder if this problem will be seen in other states or maybe I should give people the benefit of the doubt that they will see the person and the issues and not what they look like?

My sentiments exactly..but i am still going to vote for him. A little support never hurts but at the same time I wonder if its all a tongue in cheek effort. Like Laura (on mPR) says "Idolization" of Obama can possibly shift the attention from his experience to his words. but either way..i am going to support him.

Re: The Obama Train!

I am soooo with you on that. Do you think he has the power to get more votes and can keep the machine/her out of the nomination?

Re: The Obama Train!

Obama is young and imo lacks the experience and leadership abilities for this country.

Let me ask Obama supporters this.

What does he believe to be a good foreign policy?

What is his economic policies and how does he plan to store value to the US dollar and why do you think his policies will work?

What spending increases has Obama voted for and why do you support them?

I love the tough questions. Know who your voting for and why you support them. Though I'd rather have him than hillary. Do we really need over 30 years of rule from a 2 family dynasty.

Re: The Obama Train!

I definitely prefer him to Hillary as well. IMO she's just not a very likeable/relatable person. And she seems to have a sense of entitlement since her husband has already been President.

I think Obama does stand a very real chance at becoming President if he can beat out Hillary and if the Republicans don't pull themselves together...

Urban or not, it's a state that is 98% white. It's a huge win and I think that if IOWA can see past it, then that says alot!

Re: The Obama Train!

I dunno - I feel like people will vote for him because he's black and like, "wow a black president" is appealing to those. Same with Hilary because she's a female.

I'm just speaking from what people I know who don't look into facts and don't watch political debates. To them it's all about who looks cooler and it kinda pisses me off. These are the same people who ultimately don't vote because "why? it doesn't make a difference" and then b*tched at the same time as to why Bush won the last two elections. Ay yi yi. A lot of people just don't care...in my psychology class for the 2004 election, I was the only one and 3 older people plus my professor to raise their hand and said they've voted. This is a class full of like 45 + pe
