Exclamation Whatever country you live in - are you registered to vote??

If you're old enough, I surely hope so. Even if you're not into politics, you should at least pay enough attention to vote for the President or Prime Minister or whatever it is that is the TOP position in your country! I'm going to get on my soapbox, BUT particularly for women in the US (since I don't know the history of women voting in other countries, just mine), you really should vote! Many women, not all THAT terribly long ago, fought and some even DIED for your right to vote! Men ran the country and ONLY men voted! So..if you can and you aren't already, get REGISTERED and VOTE!!! It's your civic duty as a citizen.

Okay...I'm getting off my soapbox now! LOL!!

I'm on the electoral roll but no I've never voted. But that is because you could write what I know about politics on the back of a postage stamp with a fat eyeliner!

My grandmother worked for a state senator so the day I turned 18, I was registered.

Re: Whatever country you live in - are you registered to vote??

I'm registered and I vote, because in Brazil, voting is not only your right but it's also an obligation after you turn 18. It means that if I don't vote in 3 consecutive elections and don't justify why I didn't vote (like being out of the country, being sick in the hospital, etc), the government will fine me AND take away some of my rights, such as:

- Getting/renovating my ID
- Getting/renovating my passport
- Getting my taxes done
- Attend college/ school (you can't enroll in any classes if you don't vote)
- Taking a loan or getting a credit card from some banks
- And if I was a man, I wouldn't be able to join the armed forces, navy and such
