Re: Who Do You Blame For Current Oil/Gas Prices?

There isn't an option for the way i feel. A Lot of People!

The problem is this has been brewing for quite a few years. I wasn't old enough to drive for the first ones, but the Gas Crises of the 70s was just a foreshadowing. There were very few steps taken by Congress (Democratic and Republican), Presidents (Democratic and Republican) and policies have flip-flopped over time so we have not really been dealing with figuring out where we are truly going.

We get involved in some rely on some really stupid policies, like creating subsidies for farmers to grow biofuels instead of food we eat.

and who knows how these markets are manipulated by the oil companies. (I still find it ironic that George W never made any real money as an oil man!)

Too much blame to go around.

So, then is it safe to say that the debacled statement "No War for oil" doesn't mean anything then?

before you start throwing out baseless jabs at people, take a read.

i'm no bush lover, but i can't stand it when people try to blame every little thing on the man.

it has been a part of US foreign policy for decades.

Re: Who Do You Blame For Current Oil/Gas Prices?

You'd think that we'd be using something different to power our cars by now. Just look at how far the computer has come, crazy that cars are pretty much the same as they've always been. And I think gas prices will continue to rise untill they find a price that everyone will still pay.
And I've been to other cities with great public transportation options. The city I live in however is pretty crappy in comparison. So I'm stuck relying on my car to get everywhere.

There needs to be an option to vote for several things. It isn't any one person or organization, but whether we like it or not, the war in Iraq and Bush's foreign policies have not helped the situation. Twice he has asked the Saudies to increase production to help us out and twice they've said no. Even though they are supposedly an "ally".

Re: Who Do You Blame For Current Oil/Gas Prices?

blaming bush for the sorry state of the economy is also a narrow approach of looking at things.

The American Spectator

if you want to point fingers at the poor economy, blame the lenders, blame the federal reserve, blame the people who bought way more house than they could afford in the hopes of flipping it for a profit. predatory loans coupled with the collapse of the real estate bubble has led to more economic trouble than the president's policies.

Sorry Ticki i disagree, but didn't mean to take this thread off topic. So I will start a new one later.

But here is an article that really puts the war economics in perspective:

Re: Who Do You Blame For Current Oil/Gas Prices?

There are Canadian oil refineries near Sarnia Ontario. One was shut down for maintenance. As a result, there were shortages of gasoline in this area.

Because the oil refineries control the amount of gasoline produced, I would think that they would have some control over current oil/gas prices.

My understandings is most of the oil that Canada and the US uses, comes from the oil sands of Alberta, Canada - and not the Middle East.
Sorry, but I can't blame Bush for this situation.

But I can blame consumers that drive gas guzzlers and don't car pool.
And don't get me started on nascar and Indy races - complete waste of resources!!!
