I am soon to purchase a black MAC Fluidlines and also the brush to apply it with.

Can anybody give me any pointers on how to achieve the classic 'flicked out' at the sides/catseyes look with this.

Also what is the best MAC brush to apply it with please.

the new repromoted brush w/ the fafi line... the MA showed it to me and I HAD to have it ..it makes fluidline go on great! MAC 210 brush... I LOVE it but I love all their brushes

Mac 210 precision eyeliner brush , the make up artist told me they were repromoting it for the fafi line b/c it works great w/ fluidline and to make perfect lines. I really like it!

About the winged liner, I know exactly what your talking about, at first I was soo confused about doing it to the point where I went to a professional makeup artist and had him teach me, lol! But even after that, I wasnt that good, but I kept practicing.

I first started off using a pencil liner, then liquid, then gel...easy, mid, hard, but some people think the liquid liner is harder than gel, but I guess that all has to do with your personal preference.

Now it was extremely hard for me at first to find out what brushes to use. You want to try an angled brush first like the MAC 208 or 266. Or you can even go to Michaels Arts and Crafts store and find them cheaper!

I then started using a regular pointed eyeliner brush which is the MAC 209. I find this takes just a few seconds longer but I like a thin-medium thin line which is why I switched to this one. I can control it just a bit better, but both/all three are great.

Here are a couple of tutorials that helped a bunch showing both the angled and pointed brushes doing the winged eyeliner:

Thanks JordanGalore, that helps a lot. wow the girl on the last Youtube sure did a strange technique with a blunt eye pencil. I think Im still going to go for the Gel Eyeliner and brush. The angled brush is a good idea I guess. Wow, how can such a tiny 'flick' cause so much of a problem hey :-)

I have just tried to do 'the flick' with a black eyeliner pencil. Oh my goodness what a horrid mess. Onward to the MAC store.

I prefer my MAC 266, but its also probably because I have practiced so much with it now, and the results are way nicer than when I first started. I also find the 266 is easier to create a little flick with at the end, because you just press it down and voila, a perfectly straight little diagonal line.

Find out if you like using a slanted brush, fine tip brush, or straight across brush first, and then practice practice practice with it. I got better using my 266 by also using it to apply eyeshadows as eyeliners, easier than the fluidline consistency at first I think. Good luck

I really like to use the #311 brush. I know its a lip liner brush but it seems to get the job done REALLY well. And theres always the new #210 brush. I think this is a limeted one, but you can get a super fine line with it!
A little trick I do sometimes for the winged effect is to draw it on with a light shadow first so you can see were your putting the line to make the wings even. Eyeshadow is easier to remove then liner so if you mess up you can just rub it away. Once your happy with your placement you can then go over with your fluidline.
