Question Thinking of Switching Foundations-Advice Please?

I'm thinking of switching to a liquid foundation and really don't have a clue what to get. I'm a teenager and I've had bad experiences with liquid foundation when I first started wearing make-up (Oh yeah, orange face, splodges, no coverage...you name it ), I then changed to a No7 creme foundation and it just didn't go well with my skin. It was too thick and was totally the wrong colour and consistency. So I started wearing a pressed powder foundation which has been working great for me but I'm thinking maybe it's time to try something new. My current foundation is starting to annoy me. I think it's because I see other people's natural looking foundation and mine doesn't look like that. My foundation tends to look matte and I kind of want something a bit shiny and dewy (well not shiny but I'm really not good at explaining lol) If I'm going to switch to liquid then I need a liquid foundation that has light shades (i have pale skin) and also gives good coverage because being pale I have dark circles that need a certain amount of coverage to be concealed. I'm not expecting it to be dirt cheap but I can't afford top of the range products. I just need something affordable.
I've been thinking about Revlon ColourStay Make-Up with SoftFlex for Normal/Dry skin. Would you recommend this? Or do you have any other foundations you could recommend?
All replies are appreciated!

This rec is more of a mid-range in terms of cost, but I really like Clinique's Perfectly Real Makeup:

Clinique | Makeup | Foundations | Perfectly Real™ Makeup

It's not liquid, but you might also want to check out mineral foundation.

The Revlon works great! If you're interested in it, I'd recommend trying it out.

Revlon Colorstay for normal to dry skin is what I sometimes use. It stays on well and I haven't had any trouble removing it, using my regular cleanser. It doesn't go on heavy.

Re: Thinking of Switching Foundations-Advice Please?

If you only need to cover dark circles I would recommend just a tinted moisturizer since it seems you don't have acne to cover, then you can use any concealer for dark circles. I would recommend Almay's line smoothing concealer (colour choices are very limited tho) or mineral concealers. If your skin is pretty much clear, I would not recommend Revlon colorstay. Don't get me wrong, Revlon colorstay is amazing, good coverage, stays put, no transfer, holds well with my oily skin, but it's coverage is super... I need it for my acne and one thing is that it's actually really hard to remove (for me anyways).

Long story short, you don't seem like you need full coverage, so concealer for dark circles and then something light like a tinted moisturizer to even out your skintone.

In my experience, mineral makeup gives a really natural, dewy look to your skin. It just makes you look like you have awesome skin. Something to think about...

Or, what I do, stay with your pressed powder foundation, and use a luminizer like MAC Strobe Cream or something to that effect. I sometimes use it all over before my foundation if my face looks particularly dull that day, or on top after, on my cheeks.

It gives me a glow and I get to stick with what works, liquid looks too heavy on me...

Re: Thinking of Switching Foundations-Advice Please?

Thanks for the replies everyone! I think I might get the Revlon foundation and try it out and if I don't like it just go back to my original foundation.

The only problem is that I need some coverage around the rest of my face because I have quite an un-even skin tone and when I've used tinted moisturiser in the past I didn't really see the benefits. Thanks for the advice though!

I have pale skin, so I have the same problem! Revlon Colorstay does work for me in that area, so I hope it works for you, too!

Re: Thinking of Switching Foundations-Advice Please?

I bought the Revlon ColorStay makeup with SoftFlex today and I came home and thought I'd try it out. I put it on with my fingers then tried with a sponge and it just doesn't seem to do anything! It doesn't seem to give any coverage at all. I'm really clueless when it comes to liquid foundation so it's more than likely that I'm doing it wrong lol So can anyone give me any advice on how to apply it?

Re: Thinking of Switching Foundations-Advice Please?

Try using a foundation brush. Body Shop do a good one. Sponges tend to absorb a lot of product, especially if you're using liquids.
