I once was very active on various makeup forums, mostly MUT. Lately though I've been extremely busy with work and life, and have been completely out of touch with forum news, which means that I don't know the latest products that are out, that I haven't seen the latest swatches of what other girls are wearing, and there is no one place where I can just go and get an update in 5 minutes. Swatches of new products are uploaded by all these different people who are scattered amongst so many forums, and it's so tedious to run searches and browse through hundreds of pages every time that I need to find out about one particular brand. Plus, when I upload swatches myself to one forum, I feel like I have to upload them to the other forums as well so as to not leave the other girls out. This is very tedious!

So I'm thinking, I want to launch a web site which will unite all the swatchers out there, and be the single source for makeup pictures for all the forums. It would be so practical to be able to browse them all from one single place.

Do you think it's a good idea? And how many of you would be willing to donate swatches to such a web site, considering that it's outside of your home forum? I am not sure how people would feel about donating swatches if they knew that they're shared amongst different forums. Do you feel like you belong to a forum and that you should be loyal to it with your swatches?

I want to run the idea by you guys and see if I can get people's support for this before I start working on the design and the coding. Let me know if you think this is a good idea!!

Honestly, I think it would be a great idea. Extremely convinient...I would be willing to donate swatches as well

I usually don't really look at swatches, but there was/is a site dedicated to MAC swatches that is being sold, and people seemed sad about that.

*Cries* No more MAC Product Gallery!

I'm sure it's a great resource, especially for those who don't live near actual stores.

Thanks for the info Ashley. There are lots of MAC swatches and product info out there, but I would like to see a site that is not strictly dedicated to MAC. My main interests are mineral brands, because so many of them are available via internet only and we have to rely on swatches to be able to tell how the colors look since none of us can go to a store and look at all the products. That being said, I believe in dedicating equal attention to all brands.

That's the whole point, a lot of us are able to contribute only 1 or 2 swatches once in a while. And we tend to post it only when somebody requests it, and then the swatch gets lost in the threads. Each one of us probably has at least 2-3 swatches sitting on our computers, and they sit on our computers without anybody looking at them simply because there is no one place where we could upload them and know that they would contribute as a small part of a whole!

Well, we've added a photo gallery to the MAC Combos site, but no one said it had to be MAC specific. I'm sure swatches for all different brands would be appreciated on the site.

Oh I would really love that! I use swatches alot of the time when I'm ordering stuff online, and it is just so much fun looking at all those lovely colors

Sorry I realize my post might have come off as bashing the forum, and I didn't mean it as such. I don't mean to compete with the forum at all, I simply want to say that I have a vision of all of these features that I can picture as part of a gallery focused on swatches.
