I have SOOO much to do before we move!! So, I started with refinishing some furniture. Here's my list:

oldest daughter's metal bed; color: buttermilk
coffee table; color: same as end tables
end tables; color: see below
kitchen pantry; color: barn red
antique dresser; color: buttermilk

Then, I am going to sort the entire basement and freecycle stuff that is good but unused. And then I move to the main floor and do the same. And then the second floor and do the same. UGH! I have 17 days and I'm freaking out. Ha!

Here's the end tables I started yesterday and finished today. You must understand about my decor-- it's rustic, primitive Americana. So, I have a lot of things that are distressed. The tops of my shaker end tables were messed up soo, I painted and distressed them. First, second and third pictures are part of my living room and you can see one of the end tables fairly well and the other end table somewhat. Third picture is after I refinished it.






First, I lightly sanded the sheen off of the tables. I then put a coat of the yellow on. After it dried, I sanded with 320 sandpaper and followed up rubbing the entire piece with tack cloth. I then repeated this process. Next, I took 220 sandpaper and roughed up the top, the edges, legs, etc. just to take off enough paint to make it seem old and used. I then mixed two different brown acrylic craft pants with water to make a really thing mixture and applied it in sections with a foam paint brush. I then took an old towel and hand rubbed each section-- rubbing the brown in and off. I would use a spray bottle filled with water if the brown started to dry. Voila. The above is what I ended up with!

I love it Brandi!! I want to come over for a glass of iced tea and have a chat while the kiddos play.

I'm curious though what color is your trim? I'm always afraid of going too dark since we don't have our trim painted white.

You are welcome to come on over Where are you? Oh wait a month though, until I'm fully moved in and decorated (not painted, though!) It's quite beautiful up here and the beach is just around the corner-- our house is on a sand dune.

My trim is white and badly in need of painting! My walls are white and need some color and a satin finish! Well, they are white except for the burnt orange kitchen and the bright blue bathroom ceiling/half wall. Yeah, don't ask me! :P

I am just soooo stumped as to what color to go with in the kitchen. UGH!

I'm wondering the same thing. I get about 4-5 hours of sleep per night, most nights. Sometimes a tad less. I can go for a period of time like that and then I totally crash and burn. Ever since I have taken that vitamin D, wow, things have drastically changed!
