DRYER VENTS.... lol

Well, it’s that time again… time to clean out the dryer vent… And if you haven’t done it in a while, you better look into it.. Besides being a fire hazard it cuts down on the efficiency which costs $$$.. So I thought I’d throw together a quick tutorial…



So step one… pull out the dryer from the wall… make sure you don’t tear off the flexible hose from either end.









Next unplug the dryer from the wall socket. .If you have a gas dryer you will have to deal with the gas line …



Loosen the clamp on the dryer end of the flexible hose and remove.



Using a shop vac, thoroughly clean all the lint from inside the dryer. You may want to take a rag and attach it to a coat hanger and run it back and forth inside the pipe.



Then do the same thing to the flexible hose… Also a rag can be used to dislodge any stubborn lint stuck inside the hose and be careful not to cut the hose. I use an aluminum coated tube for fire safety reasons.



Be sure to go out side and clean the vent discharge. Mine has 3 small doors that come off for easy cleaning.



Reconnect the flexible hose, plug in the dryer and push it back in place…. And your done. Shouldn’t take more that 15 minutes but it will make your dryer safe and run more efficiently!!

This is so much appreciated since I have been nagging Bryan to do that! He moved the dryer yesterday and tore the flexible hose!
