Drink loose leaf tea? If so, please help!

I decided to maybe switch over to tea rather than drinking so much coffee. I think that it has healthier benefits and it will still give me the caffeine I want. Also, I have gotten tired of going to Starbucks. It has become a habit and I feel like I am not longer enjoying it.

I have been doing some research and found Adagio tea. They have this cool little contraption that will help brew the coffee.

I know that black and oolong tea have higher levels of caffeine so I will start with those. Has anyone tried this tea? Or is there a tea that you can recommend?

Re: Drink loose leaf tea? If so, please help!

I love white tea, which has the least amount of caffeine.. I would probably recommend a blended tea - in Australia there are heaps of tea shops like T2, The tea company etc, that sell loose leaf teas and are also cafes. You can try pots of different blends and see which ones you like best.

I don't know what kind of product you'd like - delicate? strong and with a hint of bitterness? sweet or fruity?

My favourite teas are white tea with rose petals, green tea with mint (called morrocan blend), green tea with peach...

Tea is not such a hit you in the face flavour as coffee, but there are lots of different types, sweet, delicate, smoky, fresh... what kind of experience are you looking for?

maybe if you go into a tea shop you can try some different types and find something you like

That looks like it will leak eventually. I use stainless steal eggs to brew my loose leaf tea, they are cheep easy to carry and clean.

Green tea is my favorite.

I know that I don't like green tea that's for sure. I want to try something with caffeine so that it will help kick start my morning.

I've always wanted to try different teas and that little contraption looks neat. If you get one you'll have to let us know how you like it.

That's a neat little contraption! Never seen that before. I bought my sister a little tea ball. It was like $3. Just steep as if you would a tea bag. As far as black tea goes, you can't go wrong. I love it! My fiance read about the oolong tea having as much caffeine as coffee so he bought it. It tastes like grass. Not good. So now it's just sitting in our pantry! HTH!

I think anything that holds a liquid and dispenses from the bottom is asking for trouble.

i had a round thing like that. it's great for a mug or a small teapot. but eventually the little thing on the side that holds it closed became loose so i would get tea leaves everywhere. sucks but for the price paid, i couldn't expect it to last very long.

the eggs are nice, i tend to prefer them to the big paper bags when it comes to teapots.

what i also use are small round paper bags. originally they were made for Senseo coffee pots, but they're perfect for a teaspoon of tea leaves. here's a pic :

but my favorite accessory is this stuff. a permanent tea filter that fits perfectly in a mug. it's solid, and washable in a dishwasher. i threw away the box (i've had it for a few years !) so i don't remember the brand, but they're found easily in any good teastore :
