I don't understand. Did the iron leave a mark on the carpet? Or, did some of the carpet fibers melt and get stuck to the iron? If the carpet has a burn mark, then you need to figure out what the fiber content is before you can figure out if you can remove it (if the carpet is acrylic, polyester, nylon, any synthetic fiber, then it's a permanent mark and your best bet is to have a carpet installer "patch" it). If the iron has scorched carpet fibers on it, then you can go to a fabric store and buy a product called "Iron Off" (it's made by Prym/Dritz), follow the instructions and the iron will be clean.
