Does anyone know how to clean suede???

I have a beautiful light blue suede purse that I used last summer and now
I want to start using it again but it's dirty, just from wear and tear, not any specific stains.I took it to the dry cleaner but they said they couldn't do b/c there is leather on it too and they didn't want to ruin it.

I love my purse........ anyone have advice???

Re: Does anyone know how to clean suede???

that seems odd that the dry cleaner didn't want to try. Not all dry cleaners are licensed to clean leather or suede, so perhaps that's the reason. You could try taking it to the cobbler (shoe repair) and seeing if they know a place that could clean it. Or, maybe they'd know how to clean it (they work with leather and suede all day).

Re: Does anyone know how to clean suede???

Hi dentaldee, i know that you can use a suede brush to clean suede.Since it is a suede purse you want to clean the brush should be suitable as there are no stains. The brush will revive the look of the suede also. You should be able to get one in a shoe shop.

happened to me too, my husband just got me a new coach bag ($498), 2 weeks later , i got color transfer from my denim ,i went back to the store they said nothing i can do, went to shoe repair and dry clean store, they said the same thing. i've tried the brush and the eraser that comes with it , it did help just a little.

You should contact the maker of the denim (jacket or jeans), because the color transfer you're referring to is called "Crocking" (the denim has excess dyes/pigments that are coming to the surface and easily transferring to anything that comes in contact with it). The quality assurance department should have checked for crocking (it's a very easy test to do) during the development and inspection processes. Perhaps the denim manufacturer would reimburse the purse, it doesn't hurt to try.
To try to prevent this in the future, when you get new denim first wash them in hot water (this gets rid of a lot of the excess dyes/pigments). Next, re-wash them in cold water with detergent, a little white vinegar, and a little salt (this helps "set" the color to prevent it from "crocking" or "bleeding"). hth.
