ok. I Found this awesome article about room tidying. Basically, it suggested that the best way to keep tidy was to break things down into daily tasks.

So - monday might be books, dvds and cds, tuesday might be emptying all rubbish bins. Or whatever.

But now I've lost it! I can't re-find the article anywhere! I wanted a rough suggestion list as to what could be done on each day that I could use to base my own list on.

So, if you were to do this, what do you think is a reasonable amount of tasks for each day, and what would you have for each day?

I already do this with facial care - you know how there are always those things that say 'use this scrub once a week' and you end up using it either every two days or never because you have no idea how long it's been since you've used it? well monday is now 'scrub' day.

So any suggestions on organising my room with a simple list of daily tasks?

maybe do it in order of which days you have the most time vs which chores take the most amount of time.
and leave out one weekend and one weekday to not have a chore attached- or you will lose interest!

that's a good idea.. I like the concept of a day off. Only thing is, I have most time on weekends, LOL. And because I'm single I don't have much else to do since I'm trying to save money. But all of it will get shot to hell if I get a boyfriend. stupid men!

I save for everything at the end of the night, it makes me more exhausted where I just plop into bed and sleep all heavenly. Ha.

An everyday task would be - vacuum, make bed.
Every other day - you can put clothes, shoes, whatever lays out in view - away.
We have garbage picked up every Thursday, so Wednesday is when we collect all trash - you can do that.
Weekends - you can do actual cleaning of dust, organization and throw away unnecessary things.

During spring cleaning - I pretty much threw away stuff that was taking up room. I would just suggest a whole weekend, (it took me about a week though) to go through everything... from clothes to shoes, to school work and makeup and just throw away stuff you really don't need.

After that, I bought more plastic bins to make storaging and organizing easier.

seriously, I don't get why some people are just naturals at this, and I have so much difficulty. It seems kind of unfair!

Rosie it may be a little harder as you still live at home and I assume most of your things are in your bedroom? That's my problem, cramming your entire life into your bedroom, when you reach my age (and yours) it's not only a bedroom it's like a mini house in one room, and it can get kinda overwhelming, and that's when cleaning can be a nightmare.

Though I think breaking it down into days would make it less stressful, Celly's week plan seems pretty realistic, maybe customise your own week plan, like leave bigger jobs to the days when you have more time and more medial chores to when you have say a spare half hour to do them in.

I know!! My sister and i used to share a room and her side was always all neat and organized except for her one infamous drawer that kept everything that she just didn't know what to do with. My side of room was always dirty and very unorganized but somehow i could always find what i needed. One time, we always used to get breakfast out on sat morning and my dad would bring it to me and place my cup on the head board which could also store things. I would leave old stuff on there and one time i picked up the wrong cup and took a sip of tea that had been there for 2 weeks!! It was horrible. I opened the cup and there was even mold on floating on the top. I learned more since then but i still can't keep it really tidy lol.

Don't you ever find that when you organize things you actually can't remember where they are as oppose to leaving it someplace random (ie. in a pile of mess)?

lol, yes, a lot of the time if I tidy it away, then I can't find it! but I guess if we were always putting it back in the same spot, we'd remember. We just have a different mind set, haha!

lol, i break it down to areas and i hide most of the mess in my closet. i can't motivate myself when it comes to clean my desk, so i only do it when i have some time on my hands. usually that day i'll also take care of the dust. i can vacuum every other day, i don't have any specific plan.

Definitely do a room cleaning and buy storage boxes if you don't have any. It makes things run smoother. Because like Bec said, your room really is like a cramped house and all the clutter! I feel like I don't have a lot of stuff but due to my small space - it's a lot!

Buy a clothes hamper - I have one that folds up. You can get 2, one for clean clothes and when you're too lazy to hang them up for fold them... dump them in the clean pile until you do so?

but.. I don't have space for a hamper! seriously, my room is like, bed, desk, chair, wardrobe, 1m wide gap for walking. LOL.

i do have space for some more cupboards, just a few.. I did have some in there when the BF was here, but he obviously took them back when he moved out. We've been looking for some replacements but haven't seen any nice ones.

I can't wait til have more room. And a walk in robe. I would kill for a walk in robe.
