Heh.. probably a dumb question but oh well =]

I kinda feel embarrased about asking this, but I did a google search and couldn't really find my anwser .

How much is a tablespoon? I mean like if you get a tablespoon of peanut butter, does it meach you have to flatten out the top and that's a table spoon? or does that mean you have to add a little curve for it to be a tablespoon?

I read somewhere that 4tbspoons = 1/4th of a cup. SO i did a little experiment with my syrup, and it turned out that 6 tablespoons equalled 1/4 of a cup? so I'm guessing you have to let the top curve a bit?

I've been trying to make lots of recipes, and my batches seem to almost always come out Less then the image of the recipe, so i'm guessing this is what i'm doing wrong? lol

/stupidity

so if anyone could help thatd be much appreciated lol

I use measuring spoons and always flatten the tops unless the recipe calls for a "heaping" tablespoon, then I'll use that curve you're talking about.

That is not a dumb question at all. I think all of us have wondered the same thing at one point or another.

hmm, slightly curved? unless the recipe specifies it has to be flat. when i use measuring spoons i tend to flatten.

Re: Heh.. probably a dumb question but oh well =]

are you using measuring spoons or regular eating spoons? because a regular eating table spoon is not the same.
