Re: Home air purifiers w/hepa - do they really work?

I've only had experience with the room ones (my roommate freshman year had bad asthma so we had one)--it really does make a difference in air quality. while everyone else was saying how they were getting sick from dust and other gross dorm mold and such we were perfectly fine.

here is an article i found that might be something to consider too. http://www.aircleaners.com/wholehouse.phtml

hope this helps

Re: Home air purifiers w/hepa - do they really work?

I have several friends that have them in their homes. It really does improve the quality of the air. I don't personally have one, but when I have been in these peoples' homes the air is much better than my house.

Yes, they do work.
We have two, in my room and the other one in the living room.

My Mother -In-Law has a lung disease and she has always had one in her bedroom and office. When she is in a room without a filter, it isn't long before she starts caughing and weezing. They are worth the money.

Did you end up buying one!?

I just bought The Oreck XL Tabletop Porfessional Air Purifier. I used it in my room last night for the first time so it's probably too early to tell but i'm hoping it will help with my allergies. I kinda wish I would have shelled out the extra 200 for the tower because the tabletop version takes up pretty much my entire end table. Oh well....it's just temporary since Chris is building a new bedroom set which will accomodate it better.

Re: Home air purifiers w/hepa - do they really work?

My friend had one, but it cost an arm & a leg to replace her filters. I don't think it made too huge of a difference for the house either. John's aunt has the Ionic Breeze (or whatever it is), and he said that makes a bigger difference.

Re: Home air purifiers w/hepa - do they really work?

My parents have them after my dad had a bad allegy, he cough all the time.. but the doctors couldn't find what caused it.. so he had to be hospitalized for a month and a half.. that was about 10 years ago..
So we bought the first model of air purifier... it works.. cuz my dad never had any problem.

I am looking for one for my APT. I am trying to buy from an asian store, its cheaper and cuter.
