My hubby has been bringing frozen dinners to work. He was living with his parents while I was still in the boonies, so that's what he got for 5 months :P
Well, I'm back now and I think frozen dinners are so expensive for what you get both in quantity and nutritionally when you can pre-cook on the weekends for the whole week or even make something the night before instead. So far what I've been doing is buying these little individual size pizza pastry doughs from the bakery. It's about 3 dollars for 12 pastries. Then I buy some sauce and pepperoni, add some cheese and voila! Pizza's for the week I can bake them up on the weekend and they can be microwaved or they can be popped in the oven at work ![]() I'm also thinking salads and wraps would be a good idea too, since hubby loves both And I can make stew, soup, pasta, whatever on the weekend as well or during the week for dinner and he can take leftovers the next day.I'm going grocery shopping today and I'm trying to think of more ideas for lunch time so I'll know what to pick up. Anyone have any yummy recipes to share that work for lunch time?

Re: Lunch Ideas?
I don't have any recipes but i would recommend sandwiches as well. I don't eat after six so when i do cook when i get home, i usually take my portion for lunch the following day.

lasagne and pasta bake works really well for little servings... and 2 min noodles are pretty cheap if you're looking for something cost effective.

I'm a big yogart fan.... Low fat, fruit on the bottom... Whipped .... And cheap... Like 60 cents a container... Add an apple and a banana....

Re: Lunch Ideas?
I'm into soups. I like home made soups not like the thin can soups. Chicken rice is a good one. You can cook up a whole chicken, use the majority of chicken for another dish (My fave is chicken enchiladas) but save broth with various veggies. You can even freeze small containers. By the time he gets to eat at work it is mostly defrosted and can be microwaved. But tons of chicken, rice and veggies.

Re: Lunch Ideas?
Good idea Darla!! I would say if you make a dish that he absolutely loves, freeze the leftovers that way there's plenty if he wants some later

Re: Lunch Ideas?
i know you can get those packaged salads from the grocery store, i usually stuff some in a pita or something and costco also sells a big box of lil peices of chicken you can put in a ceaser salad well i just put that in my wrap (freeze remaining chicken so you can take out however much you need and whenever you want so it doesn't get bad) and then i take some salad dressing in another container so it doesn't get soggy and basically have a chicken ceaser wrap. you can add like crutons and bacon bits too.
