It's not as necessary for you to match the finish of the furniture. By that I am thinking you mean matching the color of the stain. What is more important is to know the style of the furniture so that you can mix it with other pieces. One thing I have learned in mixing furniture is that you can mix traditional piece with other traditional pieces, i.e., tradition French with English or Italian . But if you have a county look then you need to mix different types of county. i.e, French country with English country. I hope this helps.
