Photos of my fish and aquarium

I finally took some photos of my aquarium and fish. My neighbour was getting rid of stuff and sold me this practically new 15 gallon aquarium for a great price. Freshwater tropical fish.

I have four platies, three cory catfish, and three otto catfish. I also have two live plants; water sprite and amazon sword. Fake log and some rocks.

Left to right: 2 female 'unknown' platies, 2 tuxedo platies (male top of pic, female below), cory catfish (I have three but one is hiding), otocinclus catfish (I have three), and pic of my tank.

The cory catfish are scavengers and the ottos are algae eaters.

These fish are all easy going and get along great. The male seems to prefer the female tuxedo platy and tends to ignore the white colored platies. I guess fish have preference like humans do, lol.

Fish don't pose so its difficult to get photos of them lol.

My female tuxedo platy looks quite pregnant and will probably drop 20 plus babies soon. I may buy a baby tank to clip on the side. Unfortunately its rare for all the babies to make it to adult life.

The aquarium is on a heavy duty desk in the rec room right now but eventually I would like to buy a more compact streamlined stand for it.

Re: Photos of my fish and aquarium

Those pics are pretty and the fish are as well Shelley!
i love how you can sometimes sit and stare at a fishtank for a while and it will give you some sort of peacefulness sense, i dont know what it is about aquariums but they make me feel like that.
Thanks for sharing Shelley

Really nice set up!
Aquariums can be quite soothing, and relaxing
We have an aquarium, but it's fresh water. I wish we could have a tropical set
up with sea horses! hehe

Thanks everyone.

I also find aquariums relaxing to look at. I guess that's why dentists offices often have aquariums, lol.

Thanks everyone.

Karen, I have a Canon Powershot A75. Its an older model, 3.2 megapixel. I find it a great camera. They still make the powershot series but with higher megapixels.

Guess what! I have a baby platy in my tank. The female tuxedo looked pregnant several weeks ago but I didn't see any babies. Usually they get eaten by the adults if you don't remove the little ones. Today I was moving the log and spotted a tiny platy. Its developing its colors which are orange and black. It seems happy but tends to hide a lot. It will probably come out of hiding when it grows more. I suppose its eating any scraps of food that fall so I push a little extra down so she/he can eat.

Re: Photos of my fish and aquarium

Very cool!
I used to have a baby turtle named Robert Jones [after the makeup artist] and one of my favorite things to do was to decorate his aquarium.

Re: Photos of my fish and aquarium

Thanks! I got him a year ago Thursday as a birthday present. Unfortunately, selling baby turtles that small is actually illegal because their survival chances are slim to none. They can't handle being transported and handled and they're really difficult to raise if you aren't an experienced owner/breeder. The store he was bought from shut down within two months because all the turtles they sold died. Including R.Jones, he was sick when I received him. I had him for two weeks.
Such a sad lesson to learn!
