Angry Spiders

Seems every time i turn around i see a damn Wolf spider. It scares the CRAP out of me.. I cant afford a exterminator. Know of any good house hold sprays? Im fine if i kill the spider but like tonight if i miss and cant find them i freak.. found one by my bed went to kill it with a shoe and cant find it and now im freaking and cant sleep.. I dont even know if they bite people..I have had enough of these so called "guests"

Re: Spiders

i kind of don't like spiders either. I looked this up (from wikipedia)

Some members of the Lycosidae, such as H. carolinensis (called the Carolina wolf spider despite the fact that its range covers much of the U.S.) make deep tubular burrows in and around which they lurk much of the time. Others, such as H. helluo, seek shelter under convenient rocks and other such shelters as nature may provide. They may wander from place to place, and are therefore more likely to be the ones attracted into human habitation when the weather starts to turn colder in autumn.

There are many smaller wolf spiders. They patrol pastures and fields and are an important natural control on harmful insects.

The wolf spiders are capable of giving defensive bites, and some South American species may give bites that are medically significant. However, in general their presence works very much in favor of humans wherever they are found.

Wolf spiders are not aggressive but will inject venom freely if continually provoked. Symptoms of their venomous bite include swelling, mild pain and itching. Though usually considered harmless to humans

so in other words, they should not really bother you.

Re: Spiders

We have a lot of spiders, especially in the spring... little hatchlings.... and you can see them forming in the corners, so we just use a dust mop to remove them before they hatch.. Don't really like to spry insectaside in the house.... But I think any hardware will have general purpose insectaside that will kill spiders... Problem is you have to spray them to get them to die!! lol

Re: Spiders

I agree with Karren. We don't like to spray chemicals in the house, only because we have 3 dogs. It's best I think to get a papertowel, spray the towel and then kill the spider. Make sure that when you're done with the spray, no matter how you use it, to always, always wash your hands. You'd be surprised by how many people forget to wash their hands.

Here we have these spiders about the size of a dime, they're fuzzy, and they jump...yes jump. So it's hard to catch those little boogers. Out of the 5 people living here I'm pretty much the spider/bug killer, because they don't bug me at all. Wierd I know. Well come August/Sept is when the Black Widows come out, and those creep me out, because they're everywhere.

Re: Spiders

I HATE SPIDERS!!! I was once bitten by a brown recluse...I was SO SICK!

If you sprinkle cayanne pepper around the premeter of your home and on the window sills and you should see a reduction of ALL types of bugs including these 8 legged beasts!

Re: Spiders

Wow, that's a scary spider. I googled wolf spiders and they look horrible. They make those house spiders, or daddy longlegs look like nothing!
