Celebrities and their lines..

Is it just me, or does it seem like it's easier for celebrities then it is for the 'average" individual to launch any kind of line they want?

Every time I turn around there is another damn celebrity launching a perfume, make-up or fashion line. Does their product really sell more then anyone else's ,simply because of the name attached to it? Or is that just what these retail stores think?

Personally, I find lines created by the "nobody's" to be more interesting. They often have more of a 'catch' product and the packaging tends to be more appealing to me.

What do you think? Would by celebrities product over the average individual's , just b/c of the name attached to it?

Re: Celebrities and their lines..

of course it's easier for them...they're popular and they have money! the only line i've been drawn to from a celeb was Kat Von D's line of makeup.

Re: Celebrities and their lines..

if it's a celebrity line, i usually run away from it. i may check the products IRL, i may smell a perfume, but so far, not impressed.

Re: Celebrities and their lines..

I always steer away from celebrity lines since none have ever impressed me. Surprisingly the only i love that is a staple for me is Curious by Britney Spears. Its last all day, smells awesome and its not expensive.

Re: Celebrities and their lines..

my hg moisturizer and toner are part of what started as a celeb line, although that wasn't the reason i decided to try the line. i love sundari neem and avocado moisturizer and neem and aloe facial mist. the line was stared by christy turlington in the late 90s.

Re: Celebrities and their lines..

We get a couple celeb lines here, but not as many as in the US. One that keeps coming up is the J Lo line from Jennifer Lopez though, its like they have everything here. First, there was the clothes, then, I spotted the perfumes and body loitions. Just the other day, I spotted high heels in the shoe department at the stores. I quite like some of the perfumes celebs have launched but that's it I think.

Another way of getting celeb stuff here is when brand names work with celebs to produce stuff, like Topshop here has a Kate Moss section of jeans and clothes, which I'm not too impressed by actually. And there's Stella Mccanthy's (wrong spelling) exercise sports wear under Adidas. This range is not bad I think, its just such a pity the prices are very expensive.

Re: Celebrities and their lines..

I have to admit I kinda like Jessica Simpsons stuff. I have never bought any of it, because it's just a little bit expensive but I know what you mean....Actually I would be more likely to buy it if it was from a "non-famous person"

Re: Celebrities and their lines..

I wouldn't buy something because it has a celebrities name on it the same way I wouldn't buy an item of clothing because it had a designer label stuck to it.
There are a few exceptions but most of the time the celeb lines are just tacky, not very good quality and not even designed by them which is completley againt the whole point of it being their line.
The only celebrity things I've ever bought & liked are the Britney perfumes and the Kylie Minogue perfume and they're both gorgeous!

Re: Celebrities and their lines..

I agree but I would like to try Kylie's, it's got some nice notes...
But, for example, I don't like J. Lo's Glow...

Re: Celebrities and their lines..

The reason why I don't buy from celebrity lines is because everyone is doing the same thing and there's no creativity what so ever. They all have perfume/cologne, they all have a clothing line that's no different from one another, etc. I can understand wanting to venture out and everything but it's like come up with something a little better that's I'd really be willing to buy.
