Tanning Bed Buffs, help me out!

Ok...so a few weeks ago (July 5th), I was out of town and wanted to go to the tanning bed (I've been tanning for a while), and apparently laid in a bed that was WAY too strong for WAY too long...they really should have warned me!!!

Anyway - Now I am peeling all over the place and look like I have a skin disease!!! Please tell me the discolorations go away!!! Has this happened to anyone before, and what did you do about it?!?

Is your skin discolored from being burnt and peeling in some places and not in others? Or do you think you might have tinea versicolor? Do a google image if your not familiar with tinea versicolor.

It will take awhile but your skin can be uniform in color again. I would minimize your exposure to UV and be sure to exfoliate on a regular basis. If your really bothered by the discoloration feel free to get a spray on tan or use a sunless tanner.

I'm really sorry this happened to you.

See, unfortunately while they think you're dark enough already to handle stronger beds, you're not always ready! Not to mention, if the bulbs were recently changed, they'll be hotter than usual to boot.

I would recommend using a hydrating lotion, as well as aloe gel if needed. Although, I've never burned from a bed... Okay, I did once, but I left it alone aside from using lotion. The discoloration should go away. I know a lot of people who burn and then peel into their natural skin tone, and others who burn and peel into a gorgeous tan. It just really stinks dealing with peeling and discoloration in the meantime.

If you're really concerned, I'd go to the doctor. Definitely stay out of the sun as much as possible until you're done peeling and whatnot!

Gently exfoliate whenever you take a shower and moisturize after..it'll eventually go away.
..happened to me once

Re: Tanning Bed Buffs, help me out!

Ok whoever this has happened to...did it look like tinea versicolor?!?!?! Because, yes it kind of looks like that...but I swear it has to be from that tanning bed b/c it is actually peeling, I can peel skin pieces off. Ugh, I feel like calling that place and telling them they need to warn people (I have very fair skin, by the way)...they should not have let me in that bed for the MAX amount of time!! ahh! This better go away by my wedding!!!!!!!

Thanks for all your help!

Re: Tanning Bed Buffs, help me out!

My husband has had a bad sunburn before and has had the skin discoloration that you mention. If your peeling that much it surely wouldn't be tv. I probably shouldn't have mentioned it even though it isn't anything truly bad.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to call the place that you tanned at to let them know what happened to you.

I've never tanned in a bed, but I hope it goes away! I'm sorry it happened, and hopefully lotion works.
