Hi,

Living in NYC allows me to see new and interesting ways to wear clothes. The other day, while waiting for the train, I saw a new way to wear a half-slip.

Instead of wearing it underneath a skirt, this young lady took a basic black half-slip with a simple lace trim at the botttom and wore it as a top. She tied a black velvet ribbon around herself, securing it just above the diaphragm.

This was truly a creative way to wear a half-slip.

In some places I believe they're referred to as petticoats. In the states, we just call them half-slips.

Interesting. I always hated slips. My mom used to make me wear them when she still had control over my wardrobe. I can't stand when people like wear a skirt suit with a tiny slit in the back and you can see the bottom of the slip. Drives me nuts.

oooo that is awsome. ive used them as skirts, but never as a top.
i use that stuff in the underwear area as regular clothes all the time.

Yes, very creative. I'm trying to imagine it. I think the lace and bow would look pretty. Kinda like a dressy, loose tube top or something? LOL

I certainly wish I had my camera with me. I would have snapped a picture. She pulled off the look very nicely.
