Lately, I've been thinking that I need to rebuild my wardrobe. I really don't have enough "classic" pieces. The kind that look great a long time from now and that will actually last. My question for you is, what do you think are the basics every girl should have in her closet?

One that I just invested in...a good winter coat! The most adorable gray peacoat. It's a little blan I guess but it will go with everything I wear.

basics for me are...

black and brown slacks (i like vsc christie fit)
white blouse
lacey cami
2 jackets (that can match the slacks above)
1 pencil skirt
little black dress
one suit (black or navy - i like pinstripe)

this way all you have to do is add some trendy pieces each season. works for me!

choose the following in neutral tones (black, white, cream, grey, brown, khaki, etc.):
1 wool coat
1 puffer coat (if you're in a colder climate)
1 fall jacket (stadium-style jackets are fine)
winter boots
rain boots
leather shoes
suede shoes
cardigan
dress pants
thousands of sweaters in all different colors, patterns, and fiber contents (sorry, I work in the sweater end of the apparel industry, and MUST MUST MUST promote the wearing of sweaters).
